Coffee Grinder

After last week's great Sunbeam EM7000 deal I'm after a capable coffee grinder to get the most out of what this machine can do.
Something like the Breville Smart Grinder (the pro version would be ideal BCG820).

Any good end of financial year sales with a decent grinder?
I had one of these: https://www.bigw.com.au/home-garden/small-appliances/coffee-…
But it doesn't grind fine enough for the EM7000… and suggested mods on coffee forums for that grinder were unsuccessful.

Any suggestions appreciated.

    • PERFECT!

  • Just bought http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Conical-Burr-Grinder-Burr-Coffee-…
First one. It grinds, so not sure how to compare sorry.

I've been doing a lot of research the past few days and cheap grinders aren't going to do the job for the EM7000 with their single floor baskets. You'll be getting 5 seconds watery shots when you should be getting a slow 30 second shot which has a nice crema & tastes a LOT better.
Are you using the EM7000 or do you have something different? It may grind fine enough for a cheaper espresso machine, I'm not sure.

      • Nah, Breville 800

Agreed. I was getting watery shots compared with my second hand Breville Roma. I thought my machine was stuffed since the pressure needle wouldn't budge but it turns out to be the coffee grind.

        EM7000 with Breville BCG820BSS = winner

        • Same results with the EM6910 and the Breville Smart Grinder.

          Perfect coffee :-)

    • That's the grinder I used to have, it wont work properly with the EM7000 without some rather tricky adjustments… which I attempted and only succeeded in breaking it. Should've just sold it and put the cash towards the BCG820.
