Understanding the pricing of cars.

I am in the market for a family car right now. Preferably a Toyota. I started reading all over the net about the different terminology and difference between cars. having a small understanding of that, Where do i start to understand what each feature is worth or how much i should be paying for it? by comparing two cars it is rather hard to pin point the price value, any ideas where to start reading or asking?

  • which models were you looking at?

  • Are you looking to compare two cars from different makes (eg Toyota/Holden) or two different models (eg Carmy/Aurion) or two variations (eg Camry Altise/Camry Atara SX)?

Start off by working which size car you need and then setting a budget and see what fits into your budget. Compare the makes that you like and look at what they offer in your budget. If your budget allows for anything above the base variation in a model, uses the brochures to compare the differences in features, this gives you a representation of what those features are worth. If you can live without those features then get the lower variation and save some money.
