Wondering if you guys are interested in kitchen knives or not. I was after Shun knife recently, especially the reserve series which is with SG2 core(I'd say this beats the VG10 in almost all aspects). So I just randomly discover that this model has a very good price of under $150. As a comparison, even a 6 inch Serrated Utility knife will cost more than $200 and a 3.5 inch paring knife will cost $169. If you search ebay.com.au, wow~

So what's the difference in here? Well, do some basic research and check the video from youtube. What I want to highlight is that the reserve series also has fantastic looking aside from the durability and sharpness, it's a state-of-the-art article for lifetime use.

Enjoy it.

PS. It cost around A$9 to ship to Australia.

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

    SG2 core all the WAYUH.

  • If you are really into knives er2k, you might appreciate some of these. You get to customise it as you wish. http://www.chefsarmoury.com/

I'd love to pretend that I was skilled enough to warrant one, but I'd probably manage to just slice my finger off and dull the blade…

  • Won't these get confiscated by customs, cos they're like pointy and stuff? =/

Anyone with any experience importing these in?

    • Bought an 8" shun premier chef knife and a 4" premier pairing knife from Amazon. Very sharp knives. However, I find the QC are not as good as they can be. I notice my 8" chef knife has a slight bend in it. Only slightly. This is the same with a 10" Shun bread knife I bought locally. I returned it. I thought I was going mad when I noticed it. But I did a bit of searching on the net and others have posted the same issue.

For the money involved, if I had to do it again, I would have just bought a set of Global knives when they are on special.

Currently I have a global cleaver too. It's very nicely weighted, and I prefer using that than my shun.

Have a look through these as well: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Japanese-tools-metalmaster/Mr-TANA…

Mine has been ordered so can't vouch for it yet, but by all reports that are amongst the best value for money. As with any good knife, will also need sharpening stones and a good strop.
