Lounge Access

First of all, who doesn't love lounges? As someone who can really put away some food and drinks, I can't get enough of them.

Unfortunately I haven't flown recently, and have lost all lounge privileges. Taking a trans-pacific flight to North America in a couple of weeks, and I have to go to the airport quite early (partner on separate flight that leaves earlier). So does anyone have any suggestions of getting lounge access without paying the hefty one-off fees (generally $50++). I know there are some credit cards that offer a once only pass, but I don't really want to sign up for a C/C if I don't have to…I already have enough from all the promotions on Ozbargain :)

Thanks for the help and advice!

  • Lots of people sell their unwanted passes on gumtree. If you are lucky you might be able to get one that expires soon at a good price.

    • Great advice. Thanks!

    • Unfortunately right now they seem to all be requiring a Qantas or JetStar flight after the lounge…I'm flying United. :(

  • Which airport? Which airlines?

  • Even passes on gumtree will cost $50

  • Sydney

    United Airlines (Star Alliance)

    • United club passes are about $20 each on eBay US if you have time to wait else just pay $50 and try to use as much as you can.

      • Unfortunately there is no United Club at the Sydney airport. Just in Melbourne for Aus.

        • In that case you won't have lounge access as I am pretty sure there are no airport lounges you can access in Australia without flying a particular airline.

        • United Airlines is with Star Alliance, so I think all affiliated airlines can access the Air New Zealand lounge at Sydney airport.

        • Only if you're flying business or have gold status though right?

        • Not sure.

  • Surprisingly air newzealand offers "add hoc" entry into their Sydney Lounge it seems. You can be flying any international carrier.

Might be worth a try. See:

    • Hey Natt…thanks for the reply. I've thought about just paying for entry one-off….but don't want to hike over the $55. I know I could get my money's worth, but not sure if my girlfriend can hah. Cheers!

  • Status match (90 day challenge) on united with a fake gold card scan form another airline. Kinda fraud but it wouldn't be hard.
