    Thanks OP. Sorry for the non-Sydney people. It seemed like a pretty big/proper warehouse sale (didn't think to take photos).

    I bought a Harman Kardon AVR 151 receiver + HKTS 16 5.1 surround speaker set for $574 + a matching pair of HTFS 2B speaker stands for $80. They had good reviews and it was nice to be able to take my time and plug in to listen to my own test music because I'm a cheap audio newb and wasn't sure whether/how they could improve clarity to my 40+ year old ears at low volume over my Panasonic SA-BTT490. I thought this would be a good entry-level receiver & speakers as a first step up from a all-in-one home theatre system. Sounded good on display and thankfully also better than the HTS side by side in my carpeted 4.3 x 4.8 metre living room without any careful speaker positioning or setup (yet). Even passed the wife test!
