What's the longest transit time you've had on an order? (Eg China post)

In leu of all of these complains about gearbest I was wondering what the time that you've waited for an order to be delivered was?

I had a head massager and a pair of goggles off eBay from China that took 2 months to arrived; I had already received a refund by this point…

Many around 4/5 weeks and quite a few around the 6 week mark. One eBay purchase arrived about 9 weeks after ordering, one or two from DX a 10 full weeks on…

If items were more expensive than they were, I suppose I would have launched disputes, but unlike lots of people on OzBargain who engage in (ants-in-the-pants) thread rage, I have learned to be patient - and also, frankly, a bit philosophical about certain purchases.

I also tend to give the benefit of the doubt to sellers I believe to be reputable. Occasional message exchanges have taken place, but only one item (off the top of my head) (not a head massager) has ever completely failed to turn-up.

I have never bought anything from Gearbest, so have no personal experiences there, but gather that there has been some grief for others.

Tip when purchasing from eBay China sellers: Sellers from Shenzhen almost always have the absolute cheapest price on a given item, but if you can find the identical one being sold for just a bit more from a Hong Kong-based one, you do stand a good chance of getting it two or three weeks faster than may otherwise be the case.

  • The longest are usually postage by sea, which can take up to 3 months.

I have had a package sent to russia take 10 weeks for delivery, and i have had a package i received from germany take 3 months.

6 - 8 weeks, from memory. I got a refund a few days before it arrived, sent it back when it did.

Out of the 100 - 300 things i've bought online, never has one go missing. Yet :p

  • 4-5 weeks for me.
Usually from china ebay sellers (3-4 weeks).

All of my purchases have arrived in 2-5 weeks, barring e-parcel.

  • nothing over 3 weeks so far.

  • I recently had a china ebay package just never arrive. I waited until the very last day to make a paypal claim, then the very last day to escalate claim. still no article. was over 3 months.

I think around the 5 week margin.

  • 5 weeks+ with dx. any other chinese store, 2-3 weeks

  • My order with dx took months. Ebay is usually quick.

Over 10 weeks, actually forgot about it till it arrived. Haven't dealt with gearbest though sorry.

Like Tas I look at it in a philosophical way, any money I spend I'll already consider it a loss already until I receive what I paid for.

I've been fortunate so far that I haven't had to put in a claim/dispute but will if needed. And if that's not possible then I'll put the loss against the money I've already saved through other bargains, I'll still be ahead ;)

I'll always do bit of research and check the seller's rep ie rating and feedback. I know the possible risks and if i think it's 'too good to be true' then I'll just go to the next cheapest seller with better ratings.

    :)

  • i ordered spark plugs from lk performance UK on ebay and never received them; also lk performance wouldn't respond to my emails about the items;contacted paypal and never received a refund either; and i don't trust the uk royal mail service either. That is my only bad experience with buying from ebay.

  • It depends on the site, I've heard DX is a lot better these days as they ship more to Australia.

But in the past 2-3 years, 2-3months was standard.

Wiggles use to be 1-2months, now a days they're 1-2weeks.

Just look for stores that are popular with Australians.

On ebay there is a lot of China/Hong Kong resellers, selling items with a slightly higher margin. But being Australian based with the goods here, means you get 2-5days delivery

Well I ordered a mimicry hamster from Hong Kong, China on 23rd May that hasn't arrived as yet. The ETA given was Thu. 12 June - Wed. 25 June though so I shall wait another week before I contact the seller … so about 4 weeks so far, expected at 5 weeks.

Have had everything from China turn up so far, usually about a month for delivery though, but not complaining.

Recently had a parcel (game $17.50AU in lieu of about $33-35 here) ordered from Los Angeles, USA on 21 May, arrived 11 June, so 3 weeks … although it did seem longer at the time. I did contact the seller who did find out there was an accident in the workplace in Florida, which resulted in a go slow in there, probably part of the delay.

So far have only had one parcel not arrive. A parcel with very low priced Star Wars collectables, as they are much cheaper in the US. The shipping cost was excessive at about 2/3 total cost but combined with the items still made them very cost appealing and they were unique. No problem obtaining a refund from the seller, although I did suspect that perhaps he didn't send them. Well we'll never know though.

Although mail from o/s seems slow I have had mail from UK arrive within a few days yet I have still waited over a week for mail a few times for mail from another state.

    • I've also had packages from the U.K. arrive very quickly, even ones with base-rate postage applied.

I should have mentioned above that some eBay sellers fib about where products they sell are actually posted from. May be the case with your Hong Kong seller, which may explain the delay you're experiencing.

I… must resist urge to buy 'mimicry hamster' under guise of 'children's gift'…

      • I once had a package arrive in 40 hours from the UK.
The US postal service is crap, it takes forevvvveerrrrrrrrr.
But then again, Australias postal system is pretty crap too.. Standard UK post takes about the same amount of time or 1 day longer than a coast to coast Australian delivery (Perth to brisbane/sydney/melbourne)

        • Its all about volume.

That's why Amazon can be scary quick these days
