Best deal on decent tyres for Camry Altise 2005

I need all four done, yesterday. Been busy scrimping, so with luck will be able to get good tyres that won't break the bank. I've saved $500 so far, but would go a bit higher if it meant a much better quality.

I have zero idea what a good tyre is supposed to cost, let alone where the best place(s) are to have them done, or even what brands are good value? What I have now are Turanza ER60, 205/65R15, 94H.

Hoping for some opinions, and if possible, from some who live in the Mandurah, WA area (for reputable shops). I don't put many km's on- mainly local driving.

Ta!

if they are only common 15 inch i reckon you'd get plenty of change from $500

maybe the 4 for the price of 3?

  • I did see the 4/3 offerings & we have a few shops that will likely honour the Yokohama, Bridgestone & Dunlop deals.

What I was hoping was someone purchased recently &/or have good feedback on brands/shops, etc…Also, with regards to pricing— is it a worthwhile leap going from say a $90 tyre to a $115 one? Is there really much quality difference or do you have to spend lots before you really get a superior tyre? As I said, I don't have a clue & was looking for experienced voices rather than just get whatever it is the particular shop wants to move most, you know?

    Thanks for the reply!

  • whats the brand name?

i wasnt that impressed with ER60s

bought 2 x Kumho whatever they are for $120 each from jax

    impressed with them

i dont buy no name tyres

  • Even Goodyear are giving back up to $150 on full sets of tyres. KMart auto willl pricematch.
Most brands are doing 4 for 3 up till June 30.
Remember to get a front & rear wheel alignment for approx $55, which will give your new shoes more mileage.

4x Goodyears + alignment = $485 for me. Hoping for 60,000kms+ from them.

  • So,

Stay with known brands & $500 will probably be enough? I will do the alignment, too- thanks for that tip.

Locally, I have a Tyrepower, which someone I know has recommended. There's also a Bridgestone Select shop. I've emailed both this evening for quotes. There is a Kmart- but is there any compelling reason to go there vs. the other tyre shops?

    Thanks again

    • kmart has free tyre service plan every 10,000km up to 50,000km

I ended up opting for the Ecopia's from Bridgestone + alignment. Got them on the 4/3 deal & they fit me in, same day.

They feel great so far. And the odd feeling & noises emanating from my old, bald tyres has disappeared.

    TA.

    • How much did that set u back? I'm looking at getting tyres too.

      • $119 x 3, w/4th free. My car needs front & rear alignment, so $85 for that. No fee to dispose of the old ones. Done in an hour.

        So far, so good.

I called this Bridgestone & the Tyrepower. The TP person answered questions like I was a bother & wanted me off the phone, the Bridgestone offered advice & then later, one of the guys phoned back to see if I had any other questions, which were answered in-depth. I went with them.

        FYI

        • Enjoy dancing in your new shoes.
