Aldi Thermal Boots

Hi, I bought some mens thermal boots from the aldi snow sale - would these be adequate to go ski-ing or snowboarding in or are other types of boots required? Trying to work out if I still need to rent boots?

Thanks in advance.

  • You will still need to rent boots. Ski boots especially are completely different as they have extra bits to clip into the skis. Snowboard boots are closer to standard boots but they still have extra padding and specific sizing to properly fit the bindings on the board. If you really wanted you could probably give it a go on a snowboard but I think you would have a very bad day.

Also if you haven't been to the slopes before, I have done both and would recommend snowboarding as being much more fun.

  • Skied for 10+ years.
Some of my mates changed and never went back and i still snobbed the idea staying with skis.
Tried it once and never looked back….eventually ;)

Much more fun, easier to transport from the car.
Easier to walk when you go for lunch. (boots are flexier than ski boots)

I would say easier to learn too.
Had 1 lesson on day 1 and have been fine ever since.
Make sure you give everything a shot so you don't get locked in to one style.
ie….left foot forward, right foot forward and swapping between.
