Accor Platinum

Hi, I have an Accor Platinum card that expires in October this year. I am travelling overseas in November - can I still book using platinum and will I still get the free room upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

  • Been a few years since I had this card myself, but Im pretty sure you need to present the card at the hotel whenever you use it.

  • Logically, I'd say no. If I remember correctly, it is a condition that you must present your card at the time of check-in and from my own experiences, Accor don't seem to be very flexible with their policies.

Twice they found my details on their system and they tried to argue that I needed to present my physical card. They eventually gave in and told me "how lucky" I was. As a Platinum member and a member of the Accor Advantage Plus program, I don't expect the world, but I do expect them to show a little flexibility when clearly the details in their computer match my passport details.

I might've just been unlucky though and to find out for sure, I'd suggest you call them and if what they say does happen to be in your favour, then get them to forward you written (or email) confirmation of what they've said.

  • Yeah, thats an excellent point, you have to be very careful, what one person tells you won't carry any weight to the next person.

I had a situation where I presented my card at the restaurant I was staying in and they forget to return it to me, foolishly I didnt notice at the time. I arrived at my next destination without the card. A quick phone call to the previous hotel (both Accor) located the card and was told they would express send it on their dime, and Ill have it by the time I check out in the morning.

Well it never arrived by morning, and I was on the flight out that day, and they said no problems sir we will forward onto your home. Well a few weeks later no card, Calling back the hotel only came up with nobody having any idea about it and not being able to see anything at recepetion extra… So called the service centre explained the situation and they wanted to charge me for a replacement card, well it turned into a massive headache, explaining that the mistake had been admitted to be the hotels fault at the time blah blah blah…

the above poster is correct, they are not very flexible when it comes to their members, subsequently I cancelled my membership upon the next renewal. Upon reading your situation I would say highly unlikely you can expect any benefits past the expiry date, they might even try and get you to re-sign up in order to get the platnium prices that you booked for.
