Store eligibility for cashback claims

If I ran an online store selling laptops, a registered business with an ABN and everything, but not registered for GST, and I sell an Acer laptop to someone, and its one of the models that has a cashback, can they claim the cashback?

Do I need to be an authorised Acer reseller or something, or is it just anyone with an ABN?

Can anyone shed some light on this, I need to know if i can advertise the cashback to promote the listing.

Cheers.

  • read the t&c for the cashback.

  • I have, it doesn't explicitly say. http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…
unless there are more detailed T&C somewhere??

  • Where are you buying the Acer laptops from? If they are from an official Acer distributor (not reseller) then your customers can claim the cashback for all non store specific cashbacks.

Sometimes Acer do cashback schemes for specific retailers (DSE, Officeworks, etc), then you won't be able to offer those.

Of course, if you are buying the laptops from a non-official distributor - I don't like your chances.

  • Acer sometimes negotiate cashback deals with a certain supplier only. If you are concerned, call acer.

  • Yeah nah I bought it from DSE or Officeworks, as far as i know it wasnt store specific, but is calling Acer to make sure, my best option?

    • It maybe specific to a group of supliers. Not just one. They do check recipts and if they find dodge ones they will refuse. Eg if you bought it at a computer market and got a hand written docket.
