  • there is a 20000 points version with yearly fee $65
    bankwest has some account gives qantas FF 10000 points min deposit $2000 per month for 3 mths
    a good range of choices for everyone

    • Well a trip from Sydney to Los Angeles is apparently 47,000 points…

        • I almost always convince myself to apply for a card finally then never actually do.
          47.000 sounded good - until the "+taxes" comments. Sticking with my debit cards :)

  • The chepaest Sydney -> Perth one way is 20,800 points (all charges are inclusive) or 16,900 points + $27.25 surcharge
    Assume you have 0 velocity points now, you can redeem a return ticket Sydney <-> Perth by
    1) Spend $1067 on AMEX card + $150 annual fee
    or
    2) Spend $3200 on Visa card + $150 annual fee
    or
    3) Spend $0.01 on any card + $150 annual fee + $27.25 (one way surchage)
    i.e. Redeem outbound flight for 20,800 points and inbound flight for 16,900 points + $27.25. You will have 2,300 points left after the redemption.
