Gift for a 11 yr old girl on her bday

Hi fellow OZ bargainers,

we have been invited by a colleague for his daughter's 11th bday.. looking for some gifting ideas..
Budget upto $30…

Just don't want to gift anything for the sake of doing it. Something which is good and useful as well..Have never met the girl either.

Any mums of kids/girls with similar age here who can suggest something?

TIA
Cheers,

  • If she's got either android or ios product, iTunes or playstore gift card is always good imo.

    • not sure if she has those products.. but thanks for the suggestion ichopstick

I think kids around that age generally like stationary. Something fun which also looks cool with their friends. Maybe have a browse in your local Smiggle or equivalent store and see if there is a nice couple of items. High school is on the way too.

    • Thanks mafmouf, we will give this a thought

  • The looming thing is in right now with kids and think its about $15-$20.
Chances are she might already have it though

    • true mick123.. thats what i feel.. if we end up buying something very common, chances are she will already have it…

The thing with loom bands are you really can't have too many haha.

      • In my time it was Tamagotchi's, then Pokemon cards, then Yu-gioh.

Now loom bands? Kids sure are retro nowadays.

I have a 10 year old daughter. Anything from Smiggle will be acceptable.

  • i agree with all of the above, and my daughter turns 11 in a few months so i will keep an eye on this thread…. yes, u really cannot have enuff of these looms, they're crazy. :)

it's all about looking cool with their friends, so smiggle fits the bill nicely, anything along those lines (read: unique) should go down well.

Ask your colleague what his daughter is into/needs? You can't go wrong then, it will give you an idea of what she is into etc.

This is the true winner. Nothing wrong with asking what they want.

Better still, ask the girl what she wants. I only wish I was consulted over every present handed to me :)

  • Cash, kids love cold hard caaaaash

  • bag of goon.

Get her a typo gift card. Smiggle is a bit young for an 11 yo.
