Complimentary Haircut from Detail for Men - Sydney *ITS BACK*

510

Detail for Men welcomes all new clients with a COMPLIMENTARY PREMIUM HAIRCUT.

I have had about 2-3 of these complimentary haircuts over the years, they always take you to the "sales wall" where they try and flog all the products at you at their stupid prices.

This is even better that you don't have to like them on Facebook either.

There's no such thing as a free haircut. While you may not pay with dollars, you will be paying with your dignity.

There's no such thing as a free haircut.

      It's not free, it's complimentary.

Someone tells you how nice it looks when you're finished…

      • +5

If the haircut is complimentary, then shouldn't it be complimenting me?

        • +5

Only if you live in Soviet Russia

  • My clippers have just crapped themselves, think they'll be happy giving me a free 'zero' clip? Think either the Artistic Director or Creative Director would tackle that job? Hello? Is there a barber in the house?? I'm not producing a movie.

  • +11

    Thanks, needed a trim downstairs.

I do these at home for the kids all the time:
"Dad, you screwed up my hair with your stupid clippers again"
"No mate, your haircut looks great."

    • +5

Be careful, your kids will remember this and when it comes round retirement time…

      • +2

….when they have to shave the hair growing out of your ears

      • No need to be careful - just make sure whenever they come over that your futuristic 150" TV screen is on the page "Create your own will" everytime they come over in large font.

      • You mean 'retirement home time'… ooohhhh… I see what you did there!
        Thanks Abbot government.

    Wish I had hair.

I hate it how every time I have a haircut, everyone at work says "did you get a haircut?", and I reply "nuh, it grew shorter"

I usually tell them I restyled my beard.

      I don't have a beard.

      • +1

        emperors new beard

      Nuh, I dyed it invisible.

Any idea how much a premium cut normally is? Toni&Guy $180.

      • +1

        Daaaamn.
Just cuts is fine with me and even that's overpriced at $29

        • +1

The local Lebanese barber down the road is $15 for me (or $20 with beard).. Best haircut I ever had!

        • +1

super overpriced. have not been to a just cuts in years. they do a rush job and i cant stand the inane chatter.

        • +1

I find their company misleading. They wash hair, blow dry…

      • +6

Wow $180! is the queen giving the haircuts there?

      • +2

That's almost 1c per strand of hair! 'A fool and their money…'

    • I respond with "Nah, I got them all cut"

    • i respond with 'Nuh, i just washed it' and watch their face as they think 'When was the last time he washed it??'

    • +1

I like the cut of your jib.

Kinda a weird question…but do you have to be a man to get this haircut? I'm female, but I have very short hair (a 2 on the sides, and short in the middle). Every time I go to a barber or a hairdresser, they will charge me the female price, despite my hair being very very short.

    • I used to get my hair cut there and I'm female with shoulder length hair. Moved further away so haven't been there for over a year.
Don't know if they still do but I can't see why not, maybe give them a call just to be sure.

My first cut was free and they did a great job so I kept going back.

I have had 3 haircuts here (one complimentary and 2 others as I know one of the hairdressers-I didn't know them before the complimentary one though). All 3 have been great haircuts and a free drink too :)

      • how much is their normal price? Don't mind if they are good.

I've been going to them for about 6 months now and am very happy with the results. I was referred by a friend since she knows one of the hair stylists quite well. I had been searching for a good hair stylist since I moved to Sydney 4 years ago, and had gone to quite a few different salons but had not been happy with any of the results. So I was very pleased when after my first hair cut at Detail, I went out later that night and a girl actually said to me she liked my hair. I'd never had anyone comment on my hair like that, so I knew it was a good sign.

A regular men's hair cut goes for about $70 to $90 at Detail, depending upon the seniority of the hair dresser. I can't vouch for all the hair stylists, since I've continued going to the same one, and she's one of the senior stylists there, however, the place is always busy, so I'm sure the other stylists are good as well.

If I were a new customer, I wouldn't hesitate to use this complimentary deal. I was actually quite surprised when I visited ozbargain today to find them advertising, since they're always quite busy, and I have to book about a month in advance with my stylist to get a hair cut, so it didn't seem like they were in need of new clients.

In regards to the pricing, I know this is ozbargain and most will balk at the regular fee, as indeed I did quite a few years ago when I first left my barber where I was paying $15 per hair cut, and decided to try a salon and paid $40, which seemed like an exorbitant amount for a hair cut at the time. However, the difference between going to a barber and an actual salon was huge for me. To be fair, the barber is very good at certain types of hair styles, the one I went to was absolutely incredible at giving fades, but I felt that I always looked like a little boy whenever I got a hair cut. As soon as I started going to expensive salons, the difference was noticeable, especially since they're very good at recommending hair styles that will suit your face, and leave you looking like a man rather than a little boy.

I've always had better results with female hair stylists than men, and Detail is full of women who work exclusively on men's hair all day long. You don't have to worry about getting a hair stylist that has spent most of her day colouring and cutting women's hair, and you might be the first men's hair cut she's given all day, or even that week for that matter. These women know how to cut men's hair and they do it very well.

Oh, a bit of important information, they've just changed their address and are now located at:

      1-8 Spring Streeet
      Sydney, NSW

The old O'connell street location is no longer open, so don't bother going there.

What's this bargain for again? I just want to make a hair cut joke. No seriously I do.

  • $10 in machine, take a ticket.
Wait a bit, NEXT. Sit in chair, glasses on shelf (Me no see now)
How you want sir? "a bit shorter all over" Number 2? "No only a little shorter". OK
    Result = No2 all over
Why bother responding? = No2 anyway.
Ah well, the only difference between a good and bad haircut is about 4 weeks anyway

  • yes this place is super EXPENSIVE but also BUSY
therefore, as summary: still a lot of rich people in Sydney that can spend almost $100 for haircut :D

So, had a haircut yesterday. Shampooed before and after the haircut and booked a followup appointment in August which would cost min $85. What appointment.

    • Did you have to give your credit card for that follow up appointment or can you cancel anytime?

      • Nah, no CC details required, just your phone number.

  • I got this haircut after having this problem (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151950) and this place was amazing. I see why people go to places like this and pay $80+.

This was free, I got my hair shampooed twice (once before, and after). The hairdresser talked to me about what I should do, and what I shouldnt do in terms of products I was using. She turned my crappy style into a really nice one. She also gave me a complimentary dye to cover my greys.

I'm use to going in and getting a 10min cut. This cut was great with shampoo, they told me how to style my hair, what I could do in the future etc. They didn't pressure me at all to buy anything or even make another appointment.

  • Just thought I'd let anyone know whos interested, this is still current deal and active. I submitted on their website, they called me back the same day, I booked in for a haircut the following day, this was with a senior stylist (normally $85). They cut my hair probably the best it has ever been cut. This place is awesome, I will be going back regularly. Yes it is a very expensive haircut at $85 each. But money well spent in my opinion. I did not even get pressured to buy ANY products at all, which I was expecting, so very surprising on that front. So yeah, anyone looking for a free haircut, you may as well take advantage.

  • Might give them a go. Are they chatty? Not into small talk whilst having a haircut, rather sit quiet and read a magazine.
