Changes to Everyday Rewards points accrual - BigW

Has anyone else seen this and what changes does it actually make to your spending habits?

From July 10th, the number of Qantas points members earn when shopping at Big W will change. At Big W Online, you will earn 1 point for every dollar spent and in Big W stores, you will earn 1 point for every $2 spent over $30. From July 10th, the number of Qantas points members earn when shopping at Big W will change. At Big W Online, members will earn 1 point for every dollar spent and in Big W stores, members will earn 1 point for every $2 dollar spent over $30. By continuing to use your card on or after July 10th - you will constitute deemed acceptance of the amended Terms of Use.

To earn Qantas points: To be eligible to earn any points through Everyday Rewards, you must register your Card (see ‘How to register your Card’ above) and link your Card to your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership (see ‘How to link a Qantas Frequent Flyer membership to your Everyday Rewards Card’ below). If you are not a Qantas Frequent Flyer member, you can join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program by completing the Qantas Frequent Flyer membership application form. This form is on the Everyday Rewards Website. If you join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program through the Everyday Rewards Website or our Customer Service Centre, you will pay no joining fee.

To earn points you must present your Everyday Rewards card before the transaction is totalled at the register. Points cannot be earned or transaction cannot be reversed for the purposes of earning points if the Everyday Rewards card is not presented before the transaction is totalled.

You can earn:

One (1) point per dollar (supermarkets, Woolworths Liquor, BWS stores (excluding Tasmania), Big W Online and Cellarmasters); and
One (1) point per two (2) dollars (Big W stores),
spent in one transaction over the qualifying threshold of qualifying spend (“Earn Rate”) at supermarkets, Woolworths Liquor or BWS stores (excluding Tasmania) and BIG W stores, Big W Online and Cellarmasters nationally by presenting your registered Everyday Rewards Card at the time you shop.

The current qualifying threshold of qualifying spend:

for supermarkets, Woolworths Liquor and BWS stores (excluding Tasmania) and BIG W stores is $30; and
for Big W Online and Cellarmasters, there is no qualifying spend.
The following are exclusions from the qualifying spend in respect of the different stores:

supermarkets and Woolworths Liquor/Smoking/Tobacco products & accessories, Gift Cards, Cash Outs, Home Delivery Charges and Internet Cafes
BIG W store's Smoking/Tobacco products & accessories, gift cards, BIG W Vision, DVD Kiosk purchases, bike building, cash outs, delivery and service charges, home delivery fees, lay-by fees and non merchandise fees.
Big W Online BIG W Photo, BIG W Movie Rental, delivery and service charges and gift cards.
BWS store's Smoking/Tobacco products & accessories, Cash Outs and gift cards.
Woolworths may change the qualifying threshold and the exclusions from the qualifying spend from time to time (this will be advertised by Woolworths). The Earn Rate is determined by Woolworths and may change at any time.

We continually review the offerings available to Everyday Rewards members. To ensure that Big W continues to deliver Australia’s lowest prices everyday to customers, Big W and Everyday Rewards have made the decision to change the number of points members will earn when shopping at Big W.

At Big W Online, members will earn to 1 point for every dollar spent and in Big W stores, members will earn 1 point for every $2 spent over $30.

Exclusions include selected purchases such as smoking/tobacco products, gift cards, BIG W Vision, DVD Kiosk purchases, bike building, cash outs, delivery and service charges, home delivery fees, lay-by fees, non merchandise fees, Big W Photo and BIG W Movie Rental.

If you complete the lay-by payment for purchases made in-store or online, on or before July 9th, you will receive 1 point per dollar above $30 (the existing point calculation). If you complete the lay-by payment on or later than July 10th, for purchases made in-store, you will earn 1 point for every $2 spent above $30 and 1 point for every dollar spent for purchases made online.

Yes, all points earned for purchases that are then exchanged (according to Big W’s return policy) for a total refund, will be discounted from your Everyday Rewards account.

Yes, like all other purchases you make with your Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card you will still be able to earn one Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every dollar you spend when you use your Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card in a Big W store or at Big W Online.

Yes, purchases including Extended Warranties on products, at Big W stores and Big W Online will still be eligible for Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

Everyday Rewards are aiming to communicate these changes to their members via updated collateral (flyers and posters in-store) in the coming months.
