Value of liquid damaged MacBook Pro 2013

Hey guys,
early last year i purchased a new Macbook Pro retina display 13 inch and within 6 months of using it i had spilled a bottle of water over the keyboard. The exterior of this macbook is excellent.
Somewhat, it stills works with the power plugged in – in fact im using it right now.

And there is no use in repairing this macbook as i got it checked up by apple and the costs of repairing this macbook is approx. the same as getting a new macbook unfortunately :(. Furthermore applecare doesn't cover for accidental costs.

I figured its useless to keep a macbook pro in which i cannot travel with, as i need a laptop for uni. Does anyone have any info about selling parts of the macbook? or have any information about the costs i could potentially sell this macbook for online?

    You can fix it by 300$-400$ non apple store . Near top ryde shopping center , I repaired mine last year and works fine still .

    i thought apple care covers water damage twice or something? with some extra fee ? :o

    Somehow using a solid metal PC which has something wrong with the power supply …. and has some water inside it …. makes me feel nervous.

        Corrosion. I had a similar incident and ever since my Mac had slowly died.

    I'd buy it. It would cost me few hundreds to fix.

    I think Coles and Woolworths sell 20kg bags of rice…

    You should still be able to get $500-600. The fact it still works is a good thing and people would takehe risk for a cheap machine. The cost to replace a disolay on a retina is about $800 so someone may buy it just for that. Put it on eBay with an honest description and see what you Get. I think you would be surprised.

    Apple told us ours was dead not covered by apple warranty but we fixed it by putting in lots of rice for over a week and exposure to fan and now it's working fine with just a little water mark inside screen. Applied for refund of apple extended warranty and received it as computer no longer covered. Keep it for at home use but if there's still water inside it might die totally one day.

      Make sure you use Arborio Rice for a MacBook Pro. Basmati Rice works better on a Windows PC.

        If you are also running Linux, would you need to use brown rice ?
