Contract Up - New Contract or Monthly

Hi!

My Virgin Mobile contract is up next month, and I'm trying to decide what to do. I have a six month old iPhone 5S that I purchased outright, so not in the market for a new phone, however would like the option to get a new handset in 12 months or so. I normally use about 3GB of data, and $400 calls/texts

I'm thinking I have a couple of options:

1) Take out a new contract in a few months, sell the phone, and use that if need be to buy a new phone in 12 months or so. Cost I anticipate is about $70 x 24 = $1680

2) Take out a monthly plan, and with the money I save, just buy a new handset later if I decide I want one. In this case, looking for the best value plan, that would suit my needs, and leave me enough money to buy a new handset. I anticipate about $40 a month? Which comes to $960, leaving me $720 for a phone.

Open for suggestions!

Thanks

The Amaysim $40 Unlimited Contract would probably be your best option. http://www.amaysim.com.au/mobile-plans/amaysim-unlimited.htm…
The 5s is a quality phone which will sell well on ebay in the next 12 months too. I don't think its worth it being locked into a 24 month contract just for the phone when the plans are very average.

  • Just curious, 3GB of mobile data each month is pretty huge. What are you doing that consumes all that?

    • Heavy Youtube watchers will easy burn through that much data.

Jeenee does all that you want for $35/month. Optus 4G network just like Virgin.

Both these options are perfect, thanks!

To answer the question about usage, Tinder drains it a lot, that + instagram.
