Windows Phone to Android or iPhone

Hi All,

I am looking to maybe move off the WinPhone platform to android or iPhone at the end of this year depending on what they come out with.

What I plan to do is spend a week with both the iPhone and android as the sole phone I will use. I currently have an old Samsung GS2 with a cracked screen I bought off ebay a while back to play the games and apps I wasn't able to get on WinPhone and my gf has an old iPhone 4 which I can use.

So my question is I would like to get a cheap but decent android phone in the sub $200 market to do the trial with, what do you guys recommend?
I jumped at that Vodafone Huwawei G526 deal but it was sold out by the time I got there.

Thanks all for any advice!

  • 1) it's hardly a fair comparison to compare a $400ish iPhone (that's about what iPhone 4's sell for I believe) with a $200ish Android.
    2) Try for a Used Nexus 4 to make it an equitable test..
Should be able to move it on for roughly the same price if you choose iPhone.

    • Thnx scubacoles!

Yeah I realise the price may have been a limiting factor, not too concerned with the resale value as I am a bit of a hoarder (according to the gf) and I like the idea of having a phone that I don't mind getting trashed when I go mountain bike riding etc.

I have been watching the ozbargain ones coming through and it got me looking at the Asus Zenphone 5, moto G going up a bit to a oneplusone and the like.

I used all 3 platforms plus blackberry z10. I would say, if you have some particular apps you must have, and you use them a lot and you prefer the way you like, go with Iphone.

Android yourself, if you'd like something drop proof, a bit water proof, dust proof thing, Sony Z1/2 or Galaxy active.

To be honest, blackberry z10 is the best go-to phone to me, when you typing, when you check the emails, just leave iphone and android phone in the dust. if not the app I must have is not really native and some others are missing, if the company is not selling it, if … I would be the fanboy of blackberry, just wished Nokia merged with RIM…and beat the shit of Microsoft and apple…

too many argument in this field, just my own experiences.
