Advice for crossing the Nullarbor

I may be driving a car from Adelaide to Perth in the next few weeks. Longest drive I've done is Perth to Esperance so I'm a bit green and wary of the trip. Any tips? How should I plan the drive? Are there motels along the way or is there SFA out there in the middle of nowhere? Should I just take my swag and camp in the bush or is the local wildlife gonna try nibble on me while I'm sleeping? I'm a Perth boy so familiar with the south west coast. May take the scenic route and swing through Yallingup, but I have no idea from Adelade thru to Esperance so any advice on how to plan my journey, safety precautions, what I should take, sights I should see (not in any great rush) and what's out there in terms of motels and service stations and attractions along the way would be of great help.
I may or may not bring a friend.
Cheers.

Extra fuel. Lots of water. Sunglasses. Awesome driving mix tape.

  • You would add heaps of km's to your drive if you went via Esperance, just go Perth, Kal, Norseman and then head east. Fuel up every time you see a fuel station and you can stay at motels along the way. Or else you can just use a swag. Google maps and google.

It could take you a while to get to Perth that way.

Take lots of water and especially if you don't know the car, I'd consider joining up with RAC, unless the car is already covered under another membership and you will be covered, ie the membership coveres other drivers of the vehicle.
