Cheap DVD Standalone Player with DVI or VGA Outputs?

I was trying to connect a spare 22" PC monitor which has DVI & VGA inputs to my el cheapo DVD player.

The player has a VGA connector but when I connect it to the monitor's VGA connector, nothing happens.

After some googling it looks like the consensus is that it's way cheaper to just go out and get a cheap player with the appropriate connector.

With this in mind, has anyone spotted a cheap player with a DVI etc output connector.

Some players have to use a set up option on the menu to change the output, Did you try that?

  Yes I did, but unsuccessfully, because the monitor didn't work, so I couldn't see the DVD's set up menu.
  
  However I'll find something else which has S-Video, or composite inputs and see just what the player's set up offers.

    Yes, that did the trick.
    
    Found something with S-Video to plug the player into, changed to o/p to VGA & Bob's your uncle.
