Brisbane Airtrain - Kids (U14) Travel Free

90

Came across this on another website, adult fare is $16.50. A good saving over a cab if travelling to/from Airport with kids.

Not sure if a Go Card would know this, may pay to keep this link handy and get a child to 'tag off' at a city station (or not 'tag on' at Airport). Inspectors should be able to verify your travel. Or just check at the station before you travel. I don't think Go cards get a discount on Airtrain anyway so worst case just get a paper Airtrain ticket for that part of the trip and tag in city. I think any station should be able to sell you this.

How much do Kids normally pay ???

    • For all I know may always have been the free, thought worth highlighting for families trying to keep the costs of travelling to the airport less than their bargain flights!

For all I know may always have been the free,

So how is it a bargain?

        This belongs in the forums…

Depends where you're going… if you have two adults you can get a reasonable distance for $33 in a taxi. A lot more convenient too.

My wife and I calculated last time we saved about $10 getting the Airtrain, which included driving to the train station to drop off our luggage, waiting for train, getting on train with other commuters, changing trains, then the short walk from the Airport train station to the airport. For us the extra $10 is well with the extra convenience of door to door service.

    • From our area on southside cab is about $90 and train $22 so with kids going free nearly half price.

With more than 2+ adults another option is to cab to Eagle Junction ($15-$20) and get on train there to avoid Airtrain tax. Cab driver will hate you though.

      • You should try living in Nundah….the cabbies despise me!

  • wrong place - why can't I delete :)

  • +1 Bargain for those travelling with kids. However, poor form that it does not seem that there are any discounts for concessions/students, etc.

How about a discount for taxpayers? They put it there

Isn't the airtrain line privately owned? I thought that was why it cost a fortune.

True Ozbargainer would take the free Airport Village bus to Airport DFO > Bus 590 to Toombul / Garden City > Train/Bus to your final destination.

    • Or just walk….

      • You walk it first jv and tell us how long it takes and we'll consider it
