  • Free shipping via HKP or CNP?

    • Usually via HKP or Singapore Post.

      • +1

Can I request to ship via HKP only?

        • +1

If you just prefer HKP, you may need to make comment when placing order or talk to the Customer Support Staff via Livechat before placing.

        • Ok, will give it a go. Thanks!

  • hmmm this would save me from having to set up plex on chromecast. to buy or not to buy…

    • +2

It would be faster than waiting for this to be delivered

    • :)Buy Chromecast or a cheaper tv box, that is a question. But I think I need to remind you that the deal is not always there. Hope you can get exactly what you need.

    • Plex takes just minutes to setup. Mine connected to my my Chromecast immediately. So easy!

  • Is it strong enough to play bluray iso and 3d? I need more feedback.

    • Yes, it plays Bluray-ISO according to their youtude video on the product page.

@Rep, can you please confirm it?

      • Sorry for late reply. The box supports Blu-ray iso format, but unfortunately 3D is not supported.

    • It supports Blu-ray iso file format, but not 3D.

  • So we need external drives? We're we gonna save our movie? Never had this before sory newbie

    • Correct. You save the file to a USB drive, or an SD card, and can play it from there. If you plug a network cable into it you should be able to access files on network shares as well.

    • Its design to stream from a NAS or Computer that has XMBC. One could also install PLEX and run a Plex media server of a NAS or Comp to also stream. Yes I prefer PLEX :P

      • So this is better than setting up a nexus 7 with nas storage and transmitted to Chromecast? Cause that was I'm planning to build..

        • Thats a good plan if you only like standard definition

  • "Android TV" in the title is pretty misleading, might want to consider changing it since it is the name of a product line that this item isn't a part of.

    • Thanks for your comment, but what it means here is Android TV Box that runs android os,and turn the orninary TV into smart TV.

Had one of this similer device before that ended up contributing to land filling. I was searching for an elternative to get out of monotonous WD media players slow UI (Netflix/ Hulu).
ATM I am using Amazon Fire tv, very happy with it. Best media centre experience without running a full blown pc or nuc. XBMC 13.1 OFFICIAL runs smooth as. Best thing is after rooting can use the usb for external drives on top of usual smb or nfs shared acces plus bonus games playing. Netflix/ Hulu runs in a flash too..

    • Did you buy using forwarding address Amazon fire doesn't ship to Oz

      • I'm also interested/keen and would much rather purchase the Amazon Fire.

EDIT: Just ordered one from eBay

        • whats the ebay link for the amazon fire you purchased? The ozbargain link is to a dead ebay item.

      • @DrHowMuch- I could have done that way but setteled from ebay. Just for one unit and to save around 20 bucks I could not justify going through loops and hoops. You can take advantage of this Sundays 20% discount Video Games.

        • Wouldn't they need to be listed under Toys & Hobbies, Video Games & Consoles for this to apply?

EDIT: I think you'll find that eBay automatically list these under internet & media streamers and unless you can change that, this deal won't apply.

@Roemac: Just noticed that there are some smart ebay seller out there Amazon Fire TV I might get one more for my 2nd room ;)

        • @gr8m8sam: Thanks for the link. Not bad at all as it brings it down to $136 (only $3 more then what I paid yesterday)

I did ask the US seller to re-list more today to coincide with the sale. He told me that eBay designated where they were listed but this obviously isn't the case.

What appeals to me is what you said: Being able to run Netflix (Sorry don't care for hulu) XBMC & USB drive media (after being rooted etc but not really an issue as I run a DS2413+ that supports DNLA straight to the TV)

Are they that good that I should be ordering another one?

        • +1

@Roemac: If you care about XBMC, Netflix and have a nas where your digital world lives - then in my opinion this is perhaps the best solution out there at this moment. XBMC runs super happy with full Hardware acceleration with plenty of juice left for other things. I had experience RaspPi, WD and running Plex (that again comes with its own transcoding issues). I find this one to be the winner (purely in my case, may differ in other situation and opinion) with a nifty wifi remore(no straight line of sight required, can stick the fire box behind the TV) and can add most Bluetooth gamming controller; without running a full-blown computer 24x7. Oh and if you have multiple xbmc, then centralise it by running MySQL in your Syno nas. Cheers.

        • @gr8m8sam: I couldn't help myself and purchased another one. You were right. This things is super quick! The remote feels orsm. Beats the apple tv ir remote hands down. Time to sell off a couple or raspberry pi's and apple TV's

Can I ask, are you running this over VPN via a router? I've tried unblock-us and it doesn't work. Once I've got netflix sorted I'll be happy. Cheers.

  • Is this a good solution for playing hd video from an external hard drive?

    • Yes, you need to connect the external hard drive with the box, and the box can play the video from the drive.

Do they come with AU power adapter?

    • I too would like to know this.

    • I doubt it comes with AU power adapter. It may cost you $2 bucks extra.

@Rep - I was told by customer service I have to pay US$3.00 to get my order ship via Hong Kong Post!

      • @PW. Could you please tell me your order No., or the email address you used to chat with our Custome Service?

Also how does this compare in PRICE and FEATURES to other dual-core android sticks/boxes???

    • Yes saw that review notice he navigated the OS using a keyboard/mouse wonder how easy or hard it is with the provided remote? Also rep please answer this, my TV is old and does not have HDMI I notice this has AV (Composite) out but can it also be 'Component video'? Ie higher resolution?

  • Looks like this is a similar device from amazon basing from the pictures and specs, can you please confirm Rep? If yes, looks like a good deal if you read the reviews from amazon.

  • Hi Rep,
did you post to Australia P.O Box ? thanks.
