Shows a picture of a crashed plane and the spiel

"Did you or your friend crash their model over the weekend? Not to worry, HobbyKing has all the parts you need to get your model back in the air plus we're giving away $100 every week to the best Crash-Cash photo!"

Sounds like they should maybe pause/pull this competition for a bit?

Poor form? Look at the photos already uploaded with their winning week. It has been going on for months and months, they aren't playing on the recent airline attack for publicity at all.

It's been on since 2012, if you go to the last page of the pictures gallery.

Did HobbyKing know something we didn't? Cue X-Files Music

The OP's slight pandemonium reminds me of that post-9/11 radio blacklist created by America's largest AM/FM radio broadcaster, that stipulated certain songs couldn't be played on the radio due to their title or lyrical content having some negative connotation to planes crashing into buildings. It was just laughable and downright disconcerting that such censorship was rolled out without an eyebrow raised.

I mean… Louis Armstrong - "What a Wonderful World". Banned. Wtf?

C'mon people. Let's get hysterical and jaded and black list hobby king without considering any facts.

  • You sound like the sort of person who sees things in Rorshach ink blots. I didn't even make the tenuous connection until you brought it up. What next, ban photos of rockets?

  • Just to nitpick: the plane was shot down and it was not an accidental "crash" caused by the pilot.

The Sept 11 incident was a 'crash'
The MH370 went MIA. It was most likely cargo fire or electrical failure.
The MH17 was destroyed by a missile.

But maybe it would be poor form if a certain insurance company purchased the MH17 google keywords to generate ads for their life insurance products…
