[Android] $0 Fontrillo The Easy Launcher Premium

140

I was (and still am) looking for an easy to use launcher to install on a Huawei Ascend G526 for my mum, and came across this deal. The premium version of Fontrillo launcher is free for a week. I do not know when "the week" started so please get it first and uninstall later.

An interesting feature of Fontrillo is the on demand built-in GPS/Wi-Fi/Mobile location tracking, and an SOS feature that works by shaking the phone. I have yet to see how well the launcher works.

Reviews not too encouraging. Of all the launchers, Nova has to be the best.

This post is not about finding "the best" launcher. It is about finding a launcher that is easy to use, easy to read (text labels everywhere, big fonts & big buttons), able to lock up settings, no sliding, swiping & scrolling gestures, and ignores "press & hold" in its interface. And incidentally free for a week. Does Nova do these?

      My mother does not require

a highly customizable, performance driven, home screen replacement.

She needs a launcher that turns her G526 into a dumb big button phone, with location tracking for her family and SOS button for help. A launcher that disables the hardware volume buttons (so she will always hear it ring), automatically switches between ear piece & speakerphone (so she can always hear even if she doesn't hold the phone to her ear), and removes the slide down notification drawer & quick access buttons (no more accidental airplane mode). Does Nova do these?

Having tried Fontrillo I have concluded it is not a suitable launcher for my mum. I am currently testing Simple Senior Phone.

Surely being "the best" is relative to the user's needs, or are you saying Nova is so flexible that it can fulfill all my mum's requirements?

      • Would you mind replying in this thread when you do a suitable launcher for your mother? I would be interested as well as the guy below.

  • Just tried and it's not too bad. It definitely simplifies the IU very much it created a bit of nostalgia of the older phones simplified features.

It would see it quite useful for my mum.

One quick gripe I have is the keyboard layout is not qwerty and only because of that annoyance I have already uninstalled it.
