Did Catch Of The Day Just Rip Me Off?

So I recently used the $20 scoopon credit (paid $7 for it) I got for CatchOfTheDay and bought some New Balance Shoes. Shoes were $39.95, so got $20 off and postage brought it to $27 and change.

Now I get an email that they were unable to fulfill my order:'A full refund, including any associated shipping charges has been processed to the credit card or account used to make the purchase, which you will receive in the next 2-3 business days.'

So that covers the $27 and change.. what about the $20 credit?

'Please also note we have added a $10 store credit to your - account (please allow up to 24 hours for this to appear) to assist with additional shipping costs associated with a replacement order should this product be available on our website in the near future.'

So the $10 is for my inconvenience? That's most generous.. what about the $20 scoopon credit?

Is this an honest mistake on the part of COTD or are these guys trying to short change me? And so close to the 2011 credit card hacking debacle they only just bothered to let us know about. Some nerve. If I get a $47 refund to my CC I'll eat my words and sing their praises.

You do live up to your username though!

        • haha

  • They probably can't reverse the COTD voucher so will have to get in contact with scoopon to issue a new one.

or maybe that $10 is a miscalculation which is supposed to be $20

No, they should refund the full amount, they can't just hand off their problem to Scoopon (even if they are the same parent company)

    • yeah I figured that was it.. mighty generous to offer $10 compo for such a small order where they must of known a substantial discount was provided.

  • Sorry to hear….had this happen to me a few times where they were unable to fill my order and hence give me a refund. However I have always found the on-line chat to be most helpful. Log in to your account and click on the live chat and see how you go. Pls let us know how it works out….positively I hope for your sake!

This always happens when you are using a voucher,Coupon or gift card In any site.

  • Live Chat

  • Contact Scoopon on 1300 726 676. Should the person who finally answers your call not be able to resolve the situation - ask to speak to a supervisor/manager. Explain with all documentation & voucher numbers + dates - prepare to wait for quite a long time, but be polite & insistent ( put kettle on for a cup of coffee meanwhile to keep you calm whilst you are being transferred to different departments ) Don't give up - persistence pays off -eventually. Been there, done that - have also tried their chat line but find a phone call resolves matters far more effectively. Good luck.

    • haha thanks mate

  • My guess is that the $10 store credit is a generic compensation for anyone who bought the item and had been refunded. Since you paid via store credit, your order is probably different to most and can't be automatically credited back. Contact Scoopon first before potentially crying wolf on a forum.

    • my 'crying wolf' clearly wasn't in vain since they still haven't got back to my email. What can I say I'm old fashioned.. guess I'll have to try this 'live chat' come Monday morning or call. You would think there is someone in Bangalore manning the inbox.

  • some one ans mine :(

    • your what now?

  • Update: Resolved, $30 in store credit :)
