IKEA - Massive price differences between east and central/west Australia

IKEA is retiring the EXPEDIT line of shelves and replacing it with KALLAX. As part of the change they've brought in a new line of doors and drawers that can be fitted to each compartment.

However, there is a massive difference in pricing between the two IKEA businesses in Australia.

KALLAX door:

IKEA QLD/VIC/NSW/etc: $15

IKEA SA/WA: $35

That is a shocking difference when you consider that a KALLAX unit can have 16 spaces to install the door. That's a difference of hundreds of dollars if all spaces were filled.

$449 versus $255

KALLAX drawers:

IKEA east: $25

IKEA central/west: $35

  • Spending anything more than $100 on anything at Ikea is crazy, IMO. And that's being pretty generous.

The $449 and $255 price difference is mental. Would love to know how they justify that one lol.

  • SA/WA ikea are franchised, the rest are IKEA owned.

    Pretty good article here: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2014/06/how-much-does-ikea-over…

  • Interesting read, thanks slknv.
