Microwave Recommendations?

Hi OZbargainers,

Just wondering what microwave I should be getting?

I would like something that is durable and reliable. So that means something that needs to stand up to the workload of an everyday household and not rust or break down in a year or two. It doesn't need to be powerful but that would be nice.

Budget, I'm not sure how much these cost but my limit is around $250. I cannot stand microwaves breaking down repeatedly.

Thanks!

  • We got one from appliances online. No complaints with the service, just make sure you read the reviews. Mine has a useless "cool down" function you can't stop. grrrrr

  • +1

Panasonic Genius. Not sure of their quality nowadays. On our second one in 30 years. Current one would be about 14 years old and gets used daily.

  • Panasonic, definitely.

  • We always had a Pana but stupidly changed to a Samsung after 14 years. Worst microwave ever!

We were going to get another Pana but ended up with the Breville OneTouch. It's a 34 litre with nifty pre-set cook programs and easy to use dial and settings.

Only had it for about a month but can't fault it so far. We got the white one for $189 from Hardly Normal or we could have had a coloured or SS for $250. RRP is around $400.

    • What's wrong with the Samsung microwave?

      • It was really noisy and didn't heat/cook things properly. At least it didn't explode ;)

The Breville is still working flawlessly.

  • I recently purchased a LG primarily because they have a 2 year manufacturer's warranty. The others including Panasonic only have 1 year. I got it through Stan Cash online and delivery was fast and only $9 to deliver to Geelong. I have been very impressed with the microwave after 8 weeks of use. Hope that continues! Previously had a teknica & it was the biggest heap of junk out- luckily I won it in a competition as I would have hated to have paid money for it at all. The LG also has very easy to use buttons and I recommend checking out any models on their ease of use as the teknica one was so hard to use it wasn't funny and it was only 3 years old.
    Good luck

  • Panasonic. Sturday had it for years
