  $1900 is the best i can see at the moment. Is with China south, might be worth paying the extra $100 and being on emirates. Maybe it's too far in advance?

  defintely too far in advance. search approximate flight dates (+/- 3 days) using skyscanner or kayak and set up a email notification for prices.

  i just booked my flights to uk doing this and noticed prices were fluctuating by as much as 600 bucks each day.

  Dublin has lower departure tax then London. So if you want to do both I would suggest flying into London and out of Dublin. I always do this and its saved me about 20-30% in the past.

  You are looking a bit far in advance though.

  So called early bird flights are typically released late oct early nov.

  Sydney to London return with Air Mauritius was recently advertised for a shade under $1400.This is the best price I've seen for some time. Check with Air Mauritius.
