Chinese eBay - TaoBao, anyone experience with this?

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Chinese version of EBay - TaoBao (http://www.taobao.com/market/global/index_new.php)? Would like to know how do you go about buying items on the site and also how I can get the items posted to Australia? Found some really interesting items but no idea how to buy them.

Thanks heaps!

    1. It's a bit difficult if you don't know Chinese (assuming) and also, most sellers don't accept paypal.
    2. Most sellers who sell on that site are reluctant to send items overseas (and if they do, the price + shipping charged is almost comparable with ebay).

Apart from the above, if you are ordering in bulk, you probably would get some savings (compared with Aliexpress and ebay).

    my 2 cents…

  • Love to know of a way to buy on there safely. Have been ripped by agents before.

  • there is no way to do it "safely"

  • There are re-shippers, I know at least one had posted on ozb before.
I think the deal was some sort of amine stuff (excuse my ignorance) that was pretty much only available there.

  • I wonder if there's a market to facilitate people grabbing things off Tao Bao? Kinda like all those agents for Yahoo Japan.

  • Use an agent - lots about. I use http://www.taobaotrends.com/. Bought loads of Chinese watches by them.

Use Chrome to auto-translate. Also check http://www.tmall.com/?ver=__722b. Best day for discounts is 11 November.

    For Japan I use http://www.fromjapan.co.jp/. http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/ and http://global.rakuten.com/en/.

  • Just bought from Taobao and tmall and waiting for the items to arrive to me. The items shipped by the seller to the shipping company warehouse then the shipping company ships to me. 2.5kg cost me RMB169 just for int shipping. I only need to put in my Australia address so they can forward to me. You can buy the alipay voucher at auspost now without using your credit card.

  • Becoz I know Chinese, you can ask me anything about taobao, but I'm not an agent and I wont do any shipping business though. I'm just trying to be helpful there.

  • Stick with Alibaba.com and Aliexpress.com

    • Only has a fraction of what taobao has

  • Does anyone know of any reliable taobao agent? I tried calling chinabuy.com.au no answers, they did say on their website/facebook page that the business will be suspended voluntarily for a few months.

Appreciate if someone can suggest a few reliable taobao agent.

  • I'm not an agent, buying from TAOBAO for a few years. If you have any questions I'm :) to help.

  • Starting up this again as same same parts in Australia are 3 or 4 x more expensive
Looking at https://ezbuy.com/ as a buyers agent as chinabuy seems to have security issues on chrome and firefox
ezbuy appear to use paypal and have au contacts

    Anyone had experience with them?

  • I have been looking at this Site recently but I've heard that you should be careful with the things on this Site cause the pictures don't always match the product.
    Just a thought.
