I've been researching the prices for NAS lately. The Netgear 4-bay looks pretty affordable compared to WD My Cloud EXT-4 ($449) and is more well-known than PROMISE ($249). Not too sure how they compare performance-wise.

    Link to HP Microserver for good price? Kind of in the market due to doing a home CCTV setup so its either i push data to a NAS or i push it to a PC/Server :)

    Synology and QNAP are in a different league, NetGear are for Mum and Dad to setup.

    Have Netgear and Synology. Both do the job but the Netgear is simpler to manage.

        If you are asking about reliability that its subjective as different people might have different views. WD did recently release a WD Red PRO (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1280) but its also much more expensive.
