Masters Price match Surprise

I just thought I would mention my price match experience with Masters.

Fridge died on Friday and starting looking for a new fridge on the weekend. Had a good look around and could not really find much in the way of a bargain. I had come to terms with having to buy a fridge at a non bargain price until I walked into an RT Edwards store. They had 17.5% off all fridges. Their sales staff where no existent so I took a photo of the price tag and went to JB Hifi Home and they said they could only price match it as it was below cost. Then I went to masters and then took 10% off the reduced price, no questions asked. In fact I think the lady was really happy for me to pick up the bargain. Maybe they don't have commissions?

In the end I got this fridge

Which is $1398 on masters website for $960.

So moral of the story for me is that I will be buying more of my appliances at Masters and taking full advantage of their price matching policy.

  • Nice one. :)

Hope you used a wish card from the Entertainment Book to save another 5%. :)

    • Heh - no. Didn't know that one.

  • Masters are owned by Woolworths, I'd be surprised if the sales staff received commission. Pretty good price though, nice find!

  • Staff certainly don't take commission, so following the company policy and making someone happy is probably what made that lady happy to serve u.

  • Well done, but just FYI, Masters policy is to price beat 10% but not on appliances. Appliances they say they only price match. So you did get lucky but well done on doing so.

    • I wondered this but I could not find it in their policy. There was a sign as big as my house behind the appliance section with there 10% price beat policy.

    • Nope I bought a $299 microwave from masters for approx $245 after a $269 price beat from harvey norman

  • +1

I recently saw a Wagner Spray unit on sale at Masters for $419 and I knew that was a great price compared to tool shops. ( normal price is over $600) My son said to see if Bunnings would price match. To my surprise, not only were they happy to price match…they took the price down to $379 due to beating Masters by 10% !!!! Bargain !!! I will be playing them off each other in future.

  • I get the feeling Masters will do anything to make sure you don't go to Bunnings again. So many places where they open a store literally next door!

  • Wow….really great price. I am also in the market for a new fridge but wanting the Westinghouse WSE7000WF - 700L Side By Side. Have managed to get the price down to $1640 but think there is still a bit of room to move on that price. Hoping an Oz bargainer can help me find a better price. Brisbane. Cheers all.

    • At the time this one was on special at RT Edwards, but it way to big for my house…

    • Not sure if you've already purchased but I bought a washing machine from Appliances Online and was very impressed with their level of service (the one time I was sick at home they were able to deliver on the same day) and prices.

Worth a shot giving them a call and asking about price matching/discounts?

Let me know how you go!
