  • I went there last year.

He he goes to the factory outlets you'll find clothing is very very cheap. I also bought a couple of google chromecasts, but they aren't that much cheaper than you get get them here on sale.

I found most other things were much of a muchness.

    Sport shoes from factory outlet
    Cosmetics
Chromebooks ($150 refurbished Acers, ridiculously cheap)

    & checkout http://slickdeals.net/

    • how much cheaper are shoes/clothing (brand name i assume) at those factory outlets?

      • Not sure of the exact price but a friend of mine got a big haul of branded stuff while he was in the states.

You can also buy from Amazon. Have them ship to your hotel perhaps?

  • cosmetics especially perfume

clothings, you can find $10 Ralph Lauren Polo if you know where to look.

  • Can I give you my shopping list for Walmart please Bargrin?

  • the big factory Outlet chain is called [Premium Outlets] (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/)

There is a list of locations on the site and a list of retailers at each outlet.

As with any outlet site, what they have depends on what is left over at the end of the season/surplus etc. You might be abel to browse as to the types of things you would like to give him an idea, and to give him a list of possibles with your size etc, but don't rely on things being available still. Also, from my recollection the NY Outlet is a good couple of hours drive from NYC, so it would be a special trip.

Otherwise, my best recommendation is department stores. Apart from ordinary sales and specials, all of the department stores I went to had a special bargains/clearance section, particularly Macy's. I'm talking about clothing/fashion/homewares though. Can't help you out with electronics etc.

The Premium Factory Outlet closest to NYC is at Woodbury Common, which is actually on the other side of the Hudson River in Noo Joisy. There are buses back and forth, either to be picked up at the Port Authority or, for more dollars, with hotel pick-ups and drop-offs. Have a look online for the details of the various options. There is a good selection of shops there but it is half a day's effort at the very least. You really need a full day.
Also, take suitable ID and get a discount card for Macy's, which often has cheap items, even cheaper when they are having a big sale. It is on the mezzanine level, just ask at a counter.
Also worth a look is Nordstrom Rack, opposite Union Square. Great deals on clothes or shoes, and it is important to look, look and look again, as sometimes the items with the big discounts can be on the wrong racks. I founds a Cardin sports jacket, in Italian linen, hidden on a rack for much smaller items, for $45 (retail was US$400).
Also, look at Century 21, downtown (near the WTC). It used to be like arm to arm combat, but now more like a slightly downmarket version of DJ's. Do not go at lunchtime, it can get a bit hectic. The shoe section, which is downstairs, even has some luxury brands, and they can be cheap.
I am usually very cautious with electronic goodies, for compatibility reasons.
