Experience with DWI ?

I am thinking of purchasing one plus one mobile from DWI, considering it being a HK COMPANY and most of their products are from HK, any one had to deal with them regarding returns or repairs. Do they obey their warranty system of 14days return or are they just like most of the retailers.. Once sold, 'to hell with you' ..(had experienced as such with many retailers…after service is always terrible)

Should i rely on DWI or pay more and go for part ausi company like Yatango(previously Mobicity)

  • I can't comment on their returns process as I haven't experienced it myself. I will, however, say that my experiences with other aspects of their business don't give me a huge degree of confidence that they'll help you out.

DWI have great prices but seem reasonably dodgy. Firstly, they declared customs value well below what I actually paid for my lens. While some seem to request this to avoid GST import thresholds, I didn't, and it causes all sorts of problems if you need to claim on insurance or need to claim reimbursement or a tax deduction. Given their refusal to send an amended invoice and the amount they ignored me, I'd be very surprised if the returns process was any more helpful.

Second, the one-off email address I used to purchase from them gets all sorts of Paypal phishing emails sent to it nowadays. They don't seem to be able to keep customer records secure (more on that here).

  • I bought a canon 600D from them. Nothing went wrong.

I HAVE experienced their returns process, after they intentionally sent me (and others) the wrong phone hoping we would not notice. I had to return the phone at my own cost to get a promised refund, which never eventuated, in spite of repeated promises that it would happen 'today,'

Eventually I resorted to escalating a Paypal claim, and even then they lied to Paypal and said they hadn't received it from me, although I fortunately had an email from them stating that they had.

If you choose to deal with them anyway, make sure you pay with Paypal or credit card, and if you have to make a return, be sure to use a shipping method with BOTH tracking and a signature.
