Wireless 4G USB interference issues?

Hi guys,

I've already tried to research this problem but can't find any good answers.

The basic story is this, I've got wireless in-built into my desktop Windows 7 PC.

It worked fine, until I got a 4G Prepaid Optus Mobile USB which I use to play video games lag free due to housemates.

The problem is using the inbuilt wireless now seems very inconsistent, it can't connect to the router, if it does, stays on for few minutes at a time and then disconnects.

After testing other devices, I confirmed that the internet is still active during the times it disconnects.

My question is this - Is it possible that the 4G USB and its drivers has interfered with the PC's inbuilt wireless even if it is not plugged in?

How can it be fixed?

Any help appreciated guys.

  • Weird one..

Try uninstalling the 4G stick drivers to see if that's the problem.

If the problem remains uninstall the WiFi Drivers then reinstall the 4G and then reinstall the WiFi Driver.

    • Yes, I isolated the problem by removing the 4G drivers. But I haven't tried changing the order of the wifi driver, so I'll give that a go thanks.

  • Can the drivers affect internet connection? yes.

I'd try a few things, i'd try and identify the drivers of both, make sure they're updated. Maybe even rollback or uninstall drivers. etc etc
