Unable to claim extended warranty from ELJO!

I contacted ELJO recently to claim extended warranty with the product I purchased in 2011.

The person I spoke to said that the previous owner sold them the company in 2013 and they did not pass on the ext warranty information. Has anyone managed to to make a claim on their items purchased from eljo prior to 2013? What are my options?

  • A good example of why never to buy extended warranties

Not so, had a major fault with an item I purchased 5 years ago, I'm in the midst of receiving a refund of 2.6k because that is my right under the trade practices act pre 2011, same applies with Australian Consumer Law

      thanks for your pointless comment.
The cost of the extended warranty paid off because I have already claimed on 2 repairs already and this would have been my 3rd.

Check out ACCC in regards to consumer warranties:
    http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees
Just because they are new owners doesn't mean that they can dismiss warranty claims

I've had to phone ACCC a couple of times in the past month and they were very helpful. Even kept a record of the case should it need to escalate. Give them a call and see where you stand.
        Best of luck

I contacted the ACCC today to seek advice. They informed me that the new owner may not fulfil the extended warranty agreement if they doesn't have the details. The only way is to go direct to the manufacturer to get some sort of compensation. so they directed me to this link to read http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/…

So assuming YOU do have the details, if you give them to them, they have them.
