Selling Bed in Gumtree

Is it really feasible to sell beds and bed frames on Gumtree? I've heard a few people succeeded in this. Should I put a low reasonable price ($50-100, from original price of $300), or just give it away for free?

How would people usually carry the bed and the frame?

  • depends how quick you want it gone. If you have time and its worth $100 list it as that with "negotiable". If you need it gone asap list it for free and it will go very quickly!

Providing its worth the money there is no harm in listing it

  • I bought my bed frame from Gumtree about 2 years ago when I first moved out. Cost me $100 and it was surprisingly great quality. Still using it and will likely take it with me when I move. Go for it!

  • Good friend of mine sold his couch on gumtree. It was in decent shape and he sold it for a very affordable price. Sale went quickly and the buyer came with a ute. He had a pretty headache free experience.

I recently gave away a double bed on Gumtree and I got response within 14 minutes. It was collected that evening and I had 3 alternative takers in reserve.

  • I have sold a queen mattress and a queen frame (at different times) on Gumtree with no bother. I just had a look what else everything similar was priced and went slightly below them. They were a good price so I had plenty of buyers and they were picked up quickly with no fuss.

When putting up an advert make sure you specify 'pick up only' or similar, if you aren't able to deliver it - I've found if I don't specify that people will constantly ask if you can deliver for them.

I sold a single bed & mattress on gt recently for not much and also delivered it… was only a few k's.

No one can answer any of your questions as we do not know anything about the bed you are thinking of selling… crystal ball is in for repairs at the moment. :-)

Used furniture is usually worth very little or nothing unless it is a quality brand item in perfect condition.

Some people think that an item they have used for many years is now still worth 90% of the purchase price… wrong! Sometimes people who have no idea of the value of an item will still buy them thinking they got a bargain just because it was used. Have seen many of these sad souls at auctions paying crazy prices.
