Calling all Melburnian for assistance

Hello

I will fly into Mel airport arriving 9.30am this Wednesday and need to get to St Kilda Rd asap.

Just wondering what is the quickest/best way to get there using public transport? Based on my search..

1) take skybus arriving southern cross station
2)from southern cross station take train to flinders st station
3)from there take tram to st kilda

Is there other recommended route I can take? Also, can i buy a one day ticket or something similar for taking train and tram? never been to Mel btw..thanks for your suggestion.

  • Yeah, I guess that would be the fastest route, not the cheapest but fastest.

www.ptv.vic.gov.au just use the journey planner to plan your journey.

You'll need a Myki card to use train tram and bus (excludes sky bus) you can probably buy it from the sky bus ticketing window if not then at southern cross stations PTV hub, ask for a Myki visitors pack.

    EDIT: here's some useful links

You can do what you post there by buying zone 1 ticket. Or you can hail a taxi,St Kilda road isn't that far from Southern Cross station

taxi. southern cross to st kilda will set you back about $15 but saves messing about with
    PT

Skybus stops at one of the hotels on St Kilda Rd.

I would suggest Skybus and then UberX - or Uber Black the entire journey.

  • quickest way to do it by 'public transport' is catch the 901 to broadmeadows, catch the train from there to southern cross then catch a 96 to st kilda from there lol

  • Thanks for all the suggestion everyone. I have a fairly good idea now after reading the comments. TQ guys.Cheers.

  • Uber using credit?

  • I am assuming you are going for a job interview and you currently live interstate?

If so, and depending on the position, normally, the prospective employer pays for the cab fare (and return).

Depending on the importance of your appointment, I would just grab a cab to "avoid" being late; even if you had to pay.

Project Management 101 ——> Time versus cost. You "generally" can't have it both ways.

As usual, my 2 cents worth.
