All Star Cast Led by Ice-T Narrate The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories Free

900

If you don't get excited about the idea of Ice-T narrating a fantasy/d&d style book then there's something horribly wrong with the world. Apparently RA Salvatore writes fun fantasy, never tried him before myself.

I haven't listened to this yet but I know already it's the best thing anyone has ever listened to.

Free for 40 days.

Publisher's Summary

The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories expands upon the epic legend of the dark elf with 12 tales performed by the all-star cast of Felicia Day, Dan Harmon, Greg Grunberg, Tom Felton, Danny Pudi, Sean Astin, Melissa Rauch, Ice-T, Wil Wheaton, Al Yankovic, Michael Chiklis, and David Duchovny!

For years, the Legend of Drizzt has included short stories published in Forgotten Realms anthologies and Dragon magazine. Available here for the first time in audio are all the classic stories by the New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore!

From the startling origin of Drizzt’s panther companion, to the tale of Jarlaxle and Entreri’s first encounter with the dragon sisters, the tales in The Collected Stories enrich this vividly-imagined series by building the world around Drizzt through exploring the backstories of side characters and magical locations.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Dungeon & Dragons this year, The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories will be available for free for forty (40) days, starting August 12th 2014 12:01am ET through September 20th 2014 11:59PM ET.

15 years ago, you tell me that Ice T, Weird Al and Fox Mulder are collaborating, I'd accept your word as a crack addict. Not sure how to accept this reality in 2014

These are great books even if you haven't played D&D.
They started my love of the Fantasy genre.
    Great find tantryl!

Bonus content - Dan Harmon imitating Ice-T as a Dungeon Master extracted from his Harmontown podcast, as inspired by narrating this book:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU44wBuFGj8 (it'th not perthonal… it's just bidneth) (NSFW - language)

    • Re-listening to it now… I think the "Mitch" in this is Mitch Hurwitz, creator and showrunner of Arrested Development. For those who don't know Dan Harmon is the creator of Community and co-creator of Rick & Morty.

EDIT Yeah, they explicit state it's Hurwitz at about the 19 minute mark. I knew he'd been on a few shows but sometimes they have audience members up so I wasn't sure until that moment.

  • drizzt do'urden! narrated by danny pudi and will wheaton as well lol

    Now that's gangster.

  • Thanks OP, this also brought my attention to the (selected) BOGOF sale on audible, which finishes today. Expanded my library considerably.

  • These are decent books, not quite the standard of Raymond E Feist but a good read nonetheless!

Depends which Feist you're talking about. The Feist up to the Serpentwar saga - totally agree.

This is miles better than the Feist after Serpentwar Saga - hell my dog writes better than Feist after Serpentwar.

  • Nice. I own the Dark Elf series already, but not much more involving Drizzt Do'urden. Enjoyable read.

Never tried an audio book before. I guess free is a good enough enticement to check it out.

Highly recommend r a Salvatore as a good read. Quite a big ongoing series. He also wrote the novelisation of the second Star Wars movie. Looking forward to listening to this.

  • OP, you're a champion. I've almost paid for this!

I can also recommend Salvatore's other work. Quite good if you're a D&D/Pathfinder player.

  • This will be great! Cheers OP

  • Drizzt?
    Really?

    • My understanding is that RA Salvatore has an element of parody/satire in his writing. But I haven't read any of his stuff so I can't be sure.

      • It's pronounced "Driz-id" ;)
