Just released an App!

Hi ozbargainers,

I have recently released an app on both iOS and Android and would love to hear your thoughts on it. It's a very simple idea and something that I use almost everyday. The app is called Notifly and essentially it's a notes/reminders app. You can add whatever you need to add, and once you save and close the app, your device will automatically display an alert so you're constantly reminded of any notes you've added. The whole idea of this app is something that is quick and easy to use when you need to write something down (instead of having to find a pen and paper). I don't have time to add reminders by setting the time, date, alert type, sound, frequency of alerts… Sometimes I just need to write down something quickly, and be reminded of if I do forget about it 5 seconds later!

You can also set future reminders (if you want to) and add pictures to your notes (maybe ozbargainers can use Notifly to take a pic of a product/price and remind themselves to post the bargain up later - if they are in a hurry!)

Let me know what you think and what could be improved (more features will be released with future updates, such as auto syncing notes to devices)

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Check out the description of Notifly in the app stores for more info.

  • when i read this , silicon valley came to mind.

    • As in the Shopping List app?

      • it was a find your parking spot app , but yea.

  • Tasks is much better if you want a simple app that has built in G Tasks syncing. Use Google Keep if you like using the Google ecosystem.

It's kind of… buggy? Installed on my LG G2. I cannot delete the notes, was long pressing on the note and there is no context menu for deleting or editing.

Also when you press the back button without typing content in, it creates a note with the default placeholder content "New Note". My intent was to not create a note, but the app creates a blank one anyway.

The expected action is to ask the user with a dialogue discard changes or save changes.

    I also suggest:
Clipboard integration - automatically create a note by dumping the clipboard contents
    E.g Context menu => Paste a Note

Don't remind by default (disable alarm)
Most of the time, the user doesn't need to have a reminder.

    Share Notes
Context menu => Share => Name of sharable app

and possibly Pebble integration if you ever have time to create Pebble apps.

    • Thanks for your reply scrimshaw. The android version for some reason keeps bugging up. It works well on a samsung galaxy, but then it's not as responsive on some other phones. I'm trying to figure that out… In order to delete the note, you need to "swipe" left on the note to delete. Does that work ok?

I'm still trying to test it and find out the problems, which is why I'm trying to get people to use it and test it on their devices.

I will eventually add the option to disable alarm but the whole point of the app is to remind by default (otherwise you could just use any generic note taking app!). The purpose of the app is to eliminate all those steps needed to set a reminder.

Let me know if there's anything else I need to improve on :)

      Thank you once again!

      • +1

        Alcatel 918D - Android Gingerbread 2.3.5
App force closes when adding a note.

        ASUS Me302C, JellyBean 4.3
App works as expected. Swipe recognition works 50% of the time.

Usability needs to be improved I suppose, I would suggest some kind of long-press context menu to mark notes as 'done' or remove them.

        • Thanks for that! Yea looking to add a long-press function to delete notes…

Do you have any Apple devices?

        • Nope sorry.
