  • Just picked up the 2012 Pinot. Hoping it a good one!!

    • James Halliday gave it 94. Lighter style but really yum.

    • Compared to the very fruity Schild Shiraz this one was very dry and high in tannins. Took me a while to get around to liking it, but by the end of the first bottle I was happy. Perhaps it benefited from a bit of oxygen too, after a couple of days.

Doesn't really make sense to compare a shiraz to a pinot, they're both very different varietals…

        • Sure they are, but either can turn out very fruity or less so or high on tannins or less so. So just making the point: they are not only different varieties, but also on opposite ends of those two measures.

        • To elaborate a bit more:
The Schild is a "let's open the bottle and see if we need to open another one before the end of the night" wine.
This Pinot is a "decant some hours before drinking and have a glass with a well matched meal" type of wine.

Very different beasts, not just because they are different grape varieties.

  • Any one know the other wines?

  • sweet3st, have you heard anything about who's making the touriga?

Quattro Mano La Morada Touriga Nacional 2010

      • I think Halliday rated it as best drinking by end 2013. Maybe better consumed young, but I wouldn't write it off, Vinomofo don't put up bad wines, still selling elsewhere for $25+/bottle.

  • Any idea what the Shiraz is?

  • got the pinot for dinner invites, thanks OP and I used your referral.

My wife loves the 2012 Riesling (93pt, Victoria). It's this one here: https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_25625/mitchelton-bl…

  • what's the the best shiraz here? love the Schild .. is there anything similar?

    • +1

Hard to say, but maybe try the plummy 93 point Victorian Shiraz? Sounds pretty fruit forward like the Schild, and 93 from Halliday isn't bad @ $7.50/bottle.

      • Thank you :)

      • Be careful though, these 93 are probably not from Halliday - they don't claim that and if they were would.

        • They state the 93 points are from James Halliday!

        • @Sweet3st: The image on the landing page with all the wines (linked to your deal) does not mention Halliday, nor does the text for the 2012 Shiraz.

For the 2011 Shiraz @$10.50/bottle both those places specifically mention Halliday.

Unless you know which wine the 2012 is and have double checked its Halliday rating, I would not be so sure. Mistakes do happen. 2 places missing, 1 shows it, I put the odds at 2:1 ;-)

        • @team teri: http://vinomofo.com/deals/red-wine/black-market-deal-shiraz-…
I'm seeing 93 points James Halliday when I go to this page.. Or am I seeing things?

        • @Sweet3st: I see, you're saying the fact that the page image says 93 points James Halliday is a mistake? Maybe, but I haven't known them to make a mistake like that before.

        • @Sweet3st: I have not seen any mistakes from them either. But I've also never seen that they had a wine with good Halliday rating and missed out on mentioning it everywhere they can. Something is different.

Seeing how many pricing errors from other deals popped up today, one could think people just need a weekend ;-)

The Riesling my wife likes (see above) was rated 93 by Tyson Stelzer for example.

        • @Sweet3st: I've ordered it and for $7.50 hopefully can't go too wrong :)

        • @larac: I checked with the guys @ Vinomofo, and it is indeed 93 points Halliday rated!

        • @Sweet3st: And, the Victorian Shiraz is, apparently, the Six Foot Six Shiraz. A decent buy I'd say going on the Pinot.

  • Hey guys,
Thanks for the post. it Doesn't look like the referral link above gives $25?

    • It should do. Try putting something in your cart and the $25 credit should show up. If you still are having no luck, shoot them an email and they'll fix it.

  • Thanks!!! appreciate it, i will do that.

  • Does anyone think the 2011 WA Shiraz for $10.50 could be the Bellarmine Shiraz? It scored 93 points from Halliday and has the right RRP from producer. I can't discover too much else about this vintage, but Vinomofo have stocked Bellarmine wines before and it is a Halliday 5 red star winery.

    • I was right!

  • Apparently the Heathcote Shiraz is Munari The Beauregard.

  • Anyone know what the SA Shiraz is? 2010 14.5% Alcohol? Is that the this Schild Estate - http://schildestate.com.au/wines/ben-schild-reserve-shiraz/?

    • K1 by Geoff Hardy Adelaide Hills Shiraz.
