Busted Jiffy steamer

Hey guys, this might be a stupid question to some of you but I am pretty clueless when it comes to the hardware of appliances. I recently bought a Jiffy steamer from America (because it was way cheaper than buying locally) and thinking that it would work fine with just a universal plug adapter but because of the different voltage used here and there, it busted on the second use. I'd still like to use the same steamer as it's a really good one so I am just wondering what my options are.

Would anyone have any idea on how much it would cost to repair and possibly convert it for use in Australia? I was also told I need a transformer for the voltage conversion, but everyone I've asked seem to not be 100% sure.

Thanks for reading guys! :)

Yes, you would need a transformer or step down device.

I doubt it's repairable.. You've fried it, it's not just a fuse that's blown, the heating element will be burnt out.
You may be able to find the same/similar in Europe or UK. They use 220V which is close enough to our 240V that appliances are OK with it.
Or look out for a special here.

    • Ahhh that's a bummer, pretty expensive steamer too. Guess I'll just start looking for a new one (the comment on the Europe/UK voltage one helped!). Thanks for the reply guys!
