You can RECHARGE $5 on ANY of the Plans.

I just did.

I just bought a $5 Optus Recharge from Coles and a brand new $2 Optus Prepaid.

I just Activated a new SIM on the Anytime $1 Plan.

I then Recharged using my $5 voucher,

Now, my 'Anytime $1 Plan' expiry date is extended by 10 days.

And my balance is $5 total.

I just made a call and my Plan is now $4. My expiry date is still 10 days away.

Please change the Wiki to reflect above.

ALSO:

Optus have just now changed Recharge methods for all Prepaid plans.

YOU CAN NOW NO LONGER RECHARGE BY TEXTING 9999 for all recharges less than $30.00

For all amounts less than $30, you MUST call 555 to recharge all Plans!

Send an SMS saying 'menu' to 9999 and select the Recharge option for more information.

Why not get a $10 recharge (valid for 6 Months) ?

  • You can still recharge less than 30$ it just needs to be set via the SMS recharge website

  • I dont get the point of the prepaid plans. Unless you make like 1 call a month, they are far more expensive than a regular plan…

    • Well to each their own. I pay $29 every 28 days which gets me $29credit + $571bonus credit(base is $421 but goes up $50 each month if you recharge within the 28days, max of $150 extra), both roll over every recharge. 1gb data every charge which rolls over too. Plus I can use $10 normal credit to get an extra 300mb(Far from good but I have so much bonus credit which is used first that it doesn't really bother me).

Although i'm sure it's cheaper to go elsewhere i'm relatively happy with the coverage and customer service I get with Virgin.

      My 2 cents..

      • Relativley cheaper? Vaya is offering $650 of credit and 1.5gb of data for $18 a month…http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile&4Gsimonly

Not sure how much credit you are getting because you say that you are getting $29 credit + $571 bonus…but then you say the base is $421?

        • Vaya don't rollover their credit or data do they though?

You start off with $29credit plus $421 bonus credit ($450 total), if you recharge within the current month then it goes up another $50 bonus credit. So after 3 months you are getting $571 bonus credit every month provided you keep recharging within the current month.

        • @happychild100:

No they dont, but why would you want to pay $11 more to roll over unused data? Are you using up more than $650 credit every month?

Also i dont get the whole recharging thing. I thought the point of prepaid is that you dont use enough to justify a monthly plan, but if you recharge every month it turns into a super expensive monthly plan…
