Where can I rent a paintball gun for fundraising purposes?

I have an idea for a fundraiser but I'm not sure if it's possible or legal to rent/hire a paintball gun in New South Wales. Anyone have an idea if this fundraiser is executable?

    http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/services/firearms/permits/firea…

This permit is for persons wishing to possess and use their own paintball gun for paintball activities on an approved paintball field. Clause 58 - Firearms Regulation 2006 relates.

" use their own paintball gun for paintball activities on an approved paintball field." So I guess this implies that it can't be used in a university haha

You'll need to get the license, and definitely not. The liability of hitting someone in an eye would mean you're effed.

Appreciate the fast responses, back to the drawing board I go. Thanks Moots

      • why dont you go walk into the nearest police station and inquire ?
best case they can tell you how ( and you can get a recorded response to cover your ass)
worst case they say they dont know and get you into contact with someone who can.

there might be a special permit you can get or something.

Have you been watching too much Community?

  • I live in QLD but am pretty sure this applies for almost all states, you need a permit (Cat a firearms permit) and a letter from a paintball club saying you are a member in order to own a paintball marker and the ranges you go and play on are technically a shooting range.

In short you will have zero chance of doing this at a uni, however another option is that there are plenty of companies that do portable laser tag. It might be worth a look?

  • Whilst paintball is a little extreme/illegal, there are really good lazer tag outfit you can hire for things like Uni wars etc, I know its not quite the same but its close

  • A gun (paintball or otherwise) on a university campus is not a good idea under any circumstances. Regardless of legalities you have less than zero chance of the uni allowing it.

  • Op,you have to factor in the cost of public liability insurance in total cost. A 10m to 20m policy at least.

  • Can't you just host the fundraising event at an actual paintball venue?
