Does anyone know how long before Aldi items go on sale?

I was just curious as I often see thing in the catalogues, that obviously don't sell out.
When I go back a few days later they usually have a red price tag to indicate they have been discounted.

So usually items go on sale on Wednesday or Saturday.. Was wondering if anyone knew how long (how many days)
before items get put on special?

(Bonus Question: How long before items on sale get pulled from the shelves, assuming they don't sell out?)

Thanks!

theres no real pattern to this. sometimes I see an item marked down at one store, and not at another. and sometimes I see the reduced prices being different between stores.
usually its around 3 weeks after the item has been released, but I feel items are being reduced less often these days.

Really depending on the store and on the products. In my local ones (Sydney South-Eastern suburbs), popular items usually sold out on the first day, and I rarely see any left over special buys.

    As regards your 'Bonus Question':
Presumably, if a product turns out to be a real dud of a seller, stock will be eventually be pulled, but in relation to one particular item of Aldi furniture (side-stand, remarkably nice design, very solid, very heavy), I took strategic advantage of having seen multiple price-drops on other products.

First one was purchased at launch for the regular price - $69.
I noticed that stock wasn't selling at a couple of specific stores that were regularly driven past, but from where groceries were occasionally bought.

So happy with the original purchase that thoughts moved laterally to ideas of where others could usefully be put, especially if the price dropped substantially from the original.
A couple more weeks on, price dropped to $39. One more purchased.

Eventually (and I ended-up having to drive around a bit to achieve this), three more were purchased for $29 each. I think one of those three may even have been reduced to $19. In any case, astonishing quality for the price.

A couple of said pieces of furn are in the kitchen, serving a very useful purpose in relation to holding appliances - looking very nice, and not at all out-of-place.

A couple have ended up in the garage - probably looking a bit out-of-place, but serving an extremely useful purpose at the price paid.

  • Thank you all for your answers..
I guess that means I will have to visit my local store more frequently when there is something I wanted.

In relation to the 'Bonus question' (Tas) Recently I saw a Wifi based power point that I thought could be pretty handy.. But at $45 didn't seem worth it. I visited the store several times and notice that all of the other electrical gear from that catalogue had either been sold or was discounted. Except these things. They must have sold a few, but there was still a fair bit of stock left. Anyway, next time I was in, about 2 weeks later, they were all gone. I assume they had been pulled. Very disappointed that this particular item seemed to skip the discounting cycle..

    • Doing what I did was a gamble. After buying the second one, I intended to buy all of the five that I ultimately purchased, but I certainly cut things very fine (hence, the 'driving around a bit…'), to get the last three at the prices I paid.

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that I drilled the legs (incredibly dense wood) of the fifth one, and then installed speaker-spikes for subwoofer-plonked-upon duty…
      Thankyou Aldi.

The factors that determine whether given items (sold anywhere), initially sell or don't, and if they don't, whether they then get to stick around for price-reductions, are always going to vary wildly - but best of luck in relation to your future Aldi-gear buying/lurking/gambling!
