Vodafone Excess Data Charges

My sister has a Vodafone wireless mobile broadband dongle. She is being charged for about 4 gb a day when she uses it. Consequently she has turned it off as her bill is now over $1200. She has no idea why the usage is so high. She's been in touch with Vodafone over the phone, in their stores and by email. There response is always the same, someone has to be using it. Has anyone had the same problem. Does anyone have advice?

  • Yep my mums had the same issue! She will probably be moving to the Virgin $40 for 12gb deal so the net just stops once you have reached the limit…I've had issues with Vodafone for mobile internet usage too

    • Surely something can be done about. Ombudsman wasn't interested.

      • Usually if it's a once off they will credit the bill a little to help out, she should ask how much it is to cancel the contract (they might offer some more help then). Did she get the text messages or emails as a warning that she was over the limit?

        • Not sure. Will ask her. I only know they offered that she could pay it back by monthly instalments. But the issue is that she can't possibly have used so much data.

        • Yes she did get text messages but the issue is, she couldn't possibly use that amount of data each day.

  • ask them to send you the data section so you can have a look

    • She has checked the data usage on her account online.

  • Don't Vodafone warn you when you have reached 80% etc? it does for mine. I did use their pocket wifi years ago, it's disgusting the way they over charge you.

True and when you go over on some plans it is around $10 per GB extra.
