Just hoping someone may have some knowledge with this - we are booking flights within Asia (Bangkok air & Air Asia) and wondering if there is much benefit $ wise selecting local currency when paying.

AFAIK all tickets are charged for in the currency of the origin city. If you pay in AUD you probably will be charged a higher conversion rate than for example when using a 28 degrees card.
