Hungry Jack's burger free add-on extras no more?

So yesterday I decided to order a Double BBQ Cheeseburger with the added 'free' tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and onions (I got charged 60 cents for the onion rings). This came to $3.60. In the late afternoon, I decided to go to a different HJ's about 6km away from the first one I went to and watched as my friend was ordering his double bbq burger. The person behind the counter appeared to be the manager and was serving my friend. When my friend had ordered what I ordered, he was declined. The manager said "you cannot order this. It's changing the burger." I was sitting down and heard this so I got up and budded in saying "what?! I ordered one this morning at another store and I've done so at this store many times before." - being a cheap uni student I had ordered this once a day. I added "those extras are free of charge" to then he replies "yes, but there is a new management.". I asked if the conditions had changed and that it applied to every other chain and he said yes.

So is it true? No more free add on extras to the single, double and triple bbq cheeseburger?

  • Weren't there previous discussions involving people having different experiences at different Hungry Jacks stores? Like some stores allow the addition of any salads at no extra cost, while others have charged fellow OzBargainers for the same?

Maybe some stores are stingier than others?

    • Well according to this dude, the "new management" has enforced new conditions for every other chain.

  • It's probably because of all the McDonald inspired "food-hacks" hype that have gotten management all pissed off about not making the profit that they have been used to - Turning a 30 cent soft serve cone into a McFlurry.

  • I was at a hungry jacks store in WA on the 31 August. I ordered 5 BBQ cheeseburgers with added Onions Rings and Angry Onions to all 5 burgers at no extra charge.
