Expedia dodge?

I'm new to Expedia and am finding some dubious results, just want to confirm if this is correct or not.

I'm looking at a 8 day holiday overseas, using the holiday and flights package

I noticed that after selected the package and then choosing flights, the prices for the package does not change when one of the flights take over 1 day (due to a layover)

That is that package is the same despite it being a 7 day actual stay.

I've crossed checked flights and hotel separately, so its not higher flight cost

  • I use Expedia as my primary package site and have always found when this happens the price is always cheaper and on the hotel booking portion it states the number of nights booked, however one of the hotels I use Sofitel gives an extra discount for 8 nights or more this could be the reason.

    • What's even weirder is when I look at hotel booking alone

      I'll look at 7 days
total is $800, but rate for each day is $700

      Usually the total is lower,

  • +2

Is it just me or did anyone else read that as "Expedia doge"? Wow! Many bargain! Much Special!

  • Experienced a few more anomalies, including the "your package" has increased while you were looking trick..

In the end, I just removed cookies and closed browser, then reopened expedia under new browser.

I get the original lower price and I get the Airline I wanted (it was removed the next day despite the flight being available???)

I've found out the higher total rates includes VAT, which the daily does not. Though this doesn't explained one of the some of the other room option rates for the same hotel having a lower total, than the sum of the daily.!?!?!

Still haven't figured out the 7 day stay being higher than 8 day stay, since the flights cost the same. Assuming Expedia is hoping to catch us out.
