VONVOGUE

Please be nice guys, this is my first time posting!

Was browsing for a new watch and saw Daniel Wellington on the iconic for $279. However from browsing on the official Daniel Wellington site it was $229 with VAT. Because we are in Australia VAT isn't charged and with the code VONVOGUE that's an extra 15% off.

Paid $163 AUD for the Grace London delivered in 3 days express worldwide shipping. Saved 40%.

who the hell is Daniel Wellington and why the hell would i want his watches?

    http://www.danielwellington.com/us/story/

    yep, as expected

if you want a cheap sub $500 watch, get a Tissot which about as cheap as quasi Swiss watches go

Why would you pay nearly $200 for a lousy quartz. Its a Seiko movement underneath. Why not just buy directly from Seiko?

Not to knock the deal but they always have 15% codes available so you can pretty much get that price anytime.

    these are so scammy

that other mob… Christopher Ward is the same thing

cheap shit $10 chinese watches given a quasi designer made up name by a group of marketing students and then sold at $199 as if its a bargain

here's another pro tip: watches that have a persons name as the brand usually isnt very good

in fact, I havent seen a brand with a person's name that is worth buying, not even Raymond Weil or Maurice Lacroix etc.

    • you obviously don't own a DW watch then yeah..?

    • that's over-generalising a little don't you think? But then again, i suppose it also depends on what you perceive as "worth buying".

p.s. Maurice Lacroix? Not founded by anyone named Maurice or Lacroix.

      • a luxury watch is worth buying if it retains value

if i buy a TAG Heuer Carrera it is a $2,000 watch… it retains 75% of its value if you want to sell it… there is an actual 2nd hand market for them.

I actually dont like TAGs but they are solid buys.

        That is "worth buying".

Its not a Casio which you can buy for $99, wear it for however long and then throw it away.

        • fair enough, although i don't agree tag heuers retain much value in the secondhand market.

        • there are good tags and bad tags

          formula 1s are shit

          monacos are good

          carreras are good

but i wouldnt buy a tag anyway

more to point, no one wants a 2nd hand raymond weil or maurice lacroix… lol to that shit, thats why they aint worth a piece of piss and never will be

        • Tag uses Seiko movements in its top watches.

          See here http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/tag-heuer-shamed-into-admitt…

Not that theres anything wrong with it.

    • Christopher Ward watches are awesome!

    • Jaeger-LeCoultre is two surnames…

    • I wouldn't classify CW in the same bracket at all … Christopher Ward is a very young company (as watches are measured), having been started in 2005, their "in-house" movement, the SH21, is made at Synergies Horlogeres in Bienne. A 7/8 yo swiss movement maker that makes a 120-hour power reserve self-winding movement "in-house" is quite a commendable task.

Some of their watches are really good like the jumping hour, but i find most of them quite bland. If it were upto me i'd be buying a NOMOS or a Frederique instead of a CW.

P.S. 2 of the worlds the best watch makers are named after the owner - Patek Philippe and Lange & Söhne

      • between Patek Philippe and A. Lange & Söhne, only A. Lange & Söhne contains a single founder's name (Patek Philippe is from Antoni Patek and Adrien Philippe). Same goes for two other high-end watch manufacturers: Audemars Piguet (Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet) and Vacheron Constantin (Jean-Marc Vacheron and François Constantin).

        pardon my fastidiousness.

    • PRO TIP LMAO

What about Patek Phillipe or a hand made Phillipe Dufor ? Their names are on the watch and for a Dufor Watch there is a 4plus year waiting time and will set you back over $100,000 . George Daniels, Franck Muller all distinguished artists in Horolgy (George Daniels invented the Co Axial escapement, the biggest leap forward in timekeeping in over 250 year)
Bit of a sweeping statement "That I haven't seen a brand with a persons name that was worth buying"

    • Obviously knows nothing about cw watches

    • First of all Daniel Wellington is rubbish, however,
these are fashion watches, they're not famous for their make but they are selling their design.

Otherwise we should all only wear crocs cos they're comfortable.

  • These DW watches are 'trendy' right now, all the cool kid in town has one!

  • Get yourself a Seiko 5 if you're in need of a bargain watch.

  • Crappy quartz watch from crappy brand. You can get similar from citizen, bulova etc for the price.

  • Even aldi watches have Japanese Quartz. For this price you could get a Seiko sk007.
