    Android.

  • Good countdown app - looks like all the Aussies will be up on the early hours of Wednesday 10th September!

    • Plus everyone now gets the chance to watch the event live as it is being streamed!

      Viva Apple!

It will definitely be interesting to see the new specs and price…. I suspect the specs would be mouthwatering until they reveal the price and suck the excitement out of my cheapo ozb arse.

  • If the 2 different versions are to be revealed (both larger than the current 5s), i'll be interested to hear the reasoning behind it - considering the whole '4inch is perfect size, won't go bigger'. Also interested if they will release a watch…

    • I hate the 4" size. I still can't type properly it on a 4" screen. 4.7" will be perfect I reckon!

      • yeah, as i own a nexus 5, trying to use friends' iPhones is a real struggle - so small!

        • I wish the nexus 5 had better battery life and I would have snapped one up and switched to Android. I just like really clean operating systems like stock Android and iOS. Hopefully they bring out GPE of the s5 and htc one m8. Still I think this new iPhone will be a crazy success even though they are going to jack up the price and price most people out. I don't like being locked into a 24 month contract with low data and terrible reception so I hope it stays under $900 or I'm going to be broke haha

        • @ShamelessBargains: battery life was initially okay for me up until recently…really struggling to get anything half decent from it now haha and yeah iPhone's are always going to be successful.

        • @beaver2233: How bad is the battery life anyway? I would have thought the close integration between operating system and hardware would have made the battery life good. I hate how phones have become lighter now and they are expected to have better battery life. The problem is the batteries phones use is outdated tech which needs to be overhauled.

        • @ShamelessBargains: im a fair heavy/medium user, i was previously able to get 4-4.5hrs screen time over about 16 hours up time. Though now im lucky to get 2.5 hours screen time after maybe 10 hours. Swear my phone is on charge more than it is being used these days haha and yeah with all the new technology coming out you'd think someone would be able to come up with some better battery tech :P (i know there's stuff being worked on, but wont be available for probably another 5 years or so).

        • @beaver2233: damn that sucks. 2.5 hours is my transport time per day on average. Would have to carry an external battery around I reckon. I reckon lasting a day is pretty good these days but running out before lunch is ridiculous. Even though the old iphone is chugging along a lot slower than it used too, looks like apple is forcing an upgrade. Even my iPad Air is slowing down considerably. Guess the batteries do just decay over time but not enough to justify the nexuses slump.

        • @ShamelessBargains: My Nexus 5 lasts me all day, with reasonably heavy use, including currently using at uni in place of a tablet for assignment question pages and accessing the uni sites.
Different battery bugs drain different Nexuses at different rates, Android L supposedly gives a 20-30% boost in battery life. Then there should be the Nexus 6 to help out

        • @Woodyg22: yeah seems to be selected models and such. I wonder what the nexus 6 will bring to the table. I am a fan of the 4.7-5" size so hopefully it's not much bigger than that. I don't want a bigger phone, it's not portable and it's heavy. Wish manufacturers would stop the trend of bigger phones and refine the design and user interface making better, easier to use phones with one handed use.

        • @Woodyg22: I think half of this is the problem - being at uni, pretty much have zero signal strength + the wifi networks are overloaded. But yeah really waiting out for the Nexus 6.

        • @ShamelessBargains: yeah I am thinking that 5.2" is the Max, although not too long iPhones were gigantic and everyone thought they were ridiculous, so tough to know!

    • about time.

      • The difference is with Apple is that they only implement new features when they have perfected them. The fingerprint scanner is a good example on the 5s as other phones in the past had them but they hardly worked or were hard to use. Apple made it a simple, effective and accurate process.

nfc is pretty standard though… not a whole lot to perfect.

I can hear the isheep coming!

    • Just something iPhone related but I found as interesting information to digest. The imminent release of Apple's wearable device would probably not dent the sales of luxury brand makers like Rolex, Omega or Patek.

    • Like many others, I too believe this to be the real deal.

What makes this leak so credible?
-Firstly the leak is so close to the 9/9 announcement date and Apple should have some working test models by now.
-The duo toned camera is circular shaped.
-icons are scaled to the same size as the iPhone 5s
-passbook icon has a new section with credit card icon drawn
      -video shows touch ID unlock
-a much higher res screen than other fakes

  • wonder how apple are gonna get away by saying 4.7 inch screen is good, seeming as they had that stupid ass add for the iphone 5 where they had some guy going รค thumb goes from here —to here"and moves thumb from top of screen to bottom.

So basically apple are saying peoples hands have grown since iphone 5 came out

    APPLE=DUMBEST ADS EVER

My prediction: Underwhelming hardware as usual. Not IP certified. Single speaker. Overpriced, with the lowest model starting at $850. People who shouldn't be buying them (for financial reasons) will still buy them, for image purposes.

    • Square housing, circular display?

    • +1

Completely underwhelmed. But I'm sure a colourful fast cut advertisement narrated by a smarmy Californian bloke will help convince us all we need one.

      • Me too, the missing stuff: 4k recording, wireless charging, non Full HD res on the standard model..

Really if you ignore the brand, its flagship fingerprint sensor and 64bit (which was already available in 5c/s), the specs looks like last generation Android phones.

I do hope the current gen Android phones drop in price though because of this release so I can upgrade. :)

  • Wow iPhone 6 plus 128GB RRP $1249 in Apple Australia website.

Does it make this phone the most expensive in history?
(Only considering mobile phones released in Australian market).

    • Eh? Anyone can make their phone the most expensive in history, want to buy my xperia z1 for $2000?

  • iPhone 6 Australian Pricing:

Storage iPhone 6 iPhone 6 Plus
    16GB $869 $999
    64GB $999 $1,129
    128GB $1,129 $1,249

They certainly win on the storage options — I don't think 128GB is offered in any other brand, although in the Google world (and in some extend, the Microsoft / OneDrive world), they want you to store things in the cloud.

    • I really hate how they didn't go straight to the 32gb option. NAND has gotten so much cheaper over the past year.

      • like how they skip the 32 option as well, be a fair few people where 16 won't be enough forcing them to cash out the extra $130
