Courier from Australia to the US

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to send a reasonably heavy package from Adelaide to Oregon. I've looked at Australia Post rates, which are reasonably high. One off courier rates aren't great either. I wondered if there were any tips that anyone could give me with respect to getting a cheap rate.

I can't seem to find any decent aggregator of international couriers anywhere.

Thanks so much everyone!

Airline courier? How heavy? Could advertise somewhere for a traveler to pack it in their suitcase for $200 or so if it fits. They could then post it once they get to US and give them another $200 or so as the 'success fee' when recipient gets it in Oregon.

    What is AusPost charging?

    • If some idiot is willing to pack some unknown stuff in a bag, you are taking a huge risk.

Thanks for the reply. It's about 5kg. Auspost want $110ish.

    Cheers,

    • Oh only 5kg, was expecting 15 or so ;-p

Well if it can fit in a carry on there are airline couriers that meet them at the airport, but getting from Adelaide to Oregon is complicated, it's hard enough finding someone from Sydney or Melbourne to LAX or New York.

Could look on australianfrequentflyers.com for anyone that travels to Oregon. Not sure if they'll carry 5kg for less than $100 but who knows.

Sure some random stranger will carry a 5kg package from someone he doesn't know to a country where the importation of many items (drugs etc) lands hefty jail sentences..good luck with that.

May as well go with Auspost, its not a lot of money really.
